argh! Some great ideas here. My flatmate is sick with cold/virus sounds like what you mentioned Softness and now i’m getting it 🙁 When I checked for my usual remedies my lemon tea was out of date, someone had used all my vicks etc So I popped to supermarket and grabbed my faves and hope to make them better and stave off as much of it from me as I can. All these remedies work, i also like to put eucalyptus oil in my burner to make the house smell fresh, can use it to help clean and eliminate germs too. A homemade soup of veggies (use frozen if your too sick to be bothered cooking) pop them into water, veggie stock, add celery, garlic, chilli, spinach leaves etc and let them cook together. Cook some litte pasta pieces and pop them in or potatoe if you like it a lttle heartier and voias You have a minestrone/vegetable soup that always helps me. Right now I’d go a nip of scotch if I had any, lol.

Hot lemon drink with some honey for me. One of my best friends and a fellow singer swears by a kind of cayenne pepper broth or ginger tea as well. 🙂 Personally I am loving the sound of the red wine one. 🙂

I get a cup of red wine into a saucepan and add orange segments into it. Simmer for 5-10 mins. get a strainer and strain so there are no orange segments left. drink while warm, rug up so you’re nice and warm and go to sleep. You will sweat it out thru the night and feel better by morning.

For sore throats I recommend a mixture of apple cider vinegar and enough honey to eliminate the bitterness. Keep it handy and sip it all day. It normally cures a sore throat overnight.

So wait. You get a cup of Apple Cider Vinegar and honey? I mean, i love using ACV for my hair and stuff but drinking it….ohhh…that’s kinda taking the tough road of beating a cold.
Or can you just add water to it? I might try this as i have quite a large amount of ACV at home but the idea really doesn’t sound appealing.

Garlic oil! I buy them in the capsules (I think it’s the Herron ones) and start taking them at the very first sign of a cold and the cold never gets worse and just gets better straight away pretty much…I swear by this1

great thread here Shull87. I work in a childcare centre and I have colds boucing around all the time! Love to try remedies than take medication.

Fresh orange juice so you get the vitamin C … plus it just makes me feel better … perhaps that’s more psychological than medical?
I also use a eucalyptus & lemon essential oil inhalation, the lemon makes the sharpness of the eucalyptus a bit more tolerable & can also help with the fever & headaches.

love that one i use it all the time 🙂 i also try getting warm water and a towel and put the towel over your head and put your head near the bowl of warm water. best remedy 🙂
