product disapointments / surprises.
hey girls 🙂
i thought id start a thread about things you’ve tried lately,
that have disapointed you, or surprised you in some way.
maybe something you thought would be amazing, but failed.
or something low-end that was fantastic 😀
i put it in bodycare, because i was unsure, but it can be anything 🙂

Buying cosmetics at the supermarkets can be quite a bother because there’s no testers and they package all the items in packages.
I bought Cover Girl Pressed Powder the other day at my local woolworths because it was on clearance for $6 (save like $12). The powder was really great and smooth and made my skin flawless but they colour i chose was way too dark. 🙁
I know its on clearance at most woolies, but clearance prices do vary at different stores. I went to another woolies hopefully buy a lighter shade, and it was on clearance for $14 (so i didnt buy it).

I bought a Clinique Pressed Powder only a month ago, and found it was amazing at making my Clinique foundation matte and helped it last longer… the only problem, is that it made my Psoriasis flare up quite badly every time I used it 🙁 so now I can’t use it – even though I liked it alot… (and it was $50… *sigh*) So it was both a surprise and definitely a disappointment.. 🙁
Although, I have been pleasantly surprised with my Cetaphil cleanser that I bought.. Such a good buy – and my skin hasn’t reacted badly 🙂Cetaphil is amazing, no? I love it too <3

Thanks for the tip Softness. I am going out today to find some Dr Lewinn’s Base and Top coats. I have tried everything for my nails. Just when I think I might be onto a good thing – bang another split.
I too am a fan of Zoya nail polish (except for the matte coulour).
It goes on like a dream. The brush is just the right size and the polish is creamy. Love it. -

I’m surprised at how cheaply I can get a great shampoo and conditioner for – on special around $3.99 each for Clairol’s purple Tousle Me shampoo and conditioner – works really fantastically on my hair (dead straight, fine but lots of it).
I’ve also been completely amazed at how healthy my nails are after using the Dr. Lewinn’s Base coat nail polish. I’m surprised at how healthy it actually is for my nails (i.e. it has some great ingredients!) – it’s worked wonders for them over the last couple of months. It’s so fast to dry which also amazes me. Their newest top coat is also amazing and super super super shiny! (I’ve been secretly so proud of my nails lately because of these products. They’re actually growing long! OMG! Have to write a review or two!).
One other product I’ve fallen for is the Zoya nail varnish. Leaves a beautiful shiny coat!
Cool thread pinkcoco!

Great idea Pinkcoco!
I have mentioned these products in other threads but happy to include them here.
Murad’s blemish spot treatment – received this as a sample and have been totally thrilled with it. Am occasionally having a little breakout due to hormonal changes. Yesterday I had a few spots on my jawline and I applied this treatment last night and voila, all clear this morning. I have been using other skincare products from Murad and have been very happy with the range.
Moo Goo’s shampoo to treat dry, itchy and flaky scalp is a winner (thanks to Melmeko and others for their recommendations).
I received a sample of Jurlique’s ageing hand cream and found it very rich and nourishing, much more than the regular hand creams which I am not a fan of. So, once I use up my current hand creams (have several around the house and in my bag) I will buy one of these. I was very pleasantly surprised.
