Peeling skin

Any ideas on how to prevent peeling skin on the sides of the fingernails?
I’ve worn hand cream s and drink water to stay hydrated, but they are still prone to flaking. And it stings like hell!

Try a good cuticle oil like CND`s Solar Oil. I have the same problem in Winter but since using the oil the skin`s been much better. To stop the pan from the skin that`s hanging off, I cut it off with nail scissors. Just be really careful that you don`t cut into your growing skin – only the skin that`s free.

Thans everyone. I never thought of irritant sources. I will try out a cuticle gel since it`s recommended. And I`ll keep up the Dove Hand Treatment I use at the moment. B.O. I will try the Neutrogena product once Dove runs out.

a lot of detergents and household cleaning products can cause the skin to become irritated and may cause peeling. I always try to buy products which are gentle on my sensitive skin and wear gloves when cleaning and try not to immerse my skin in water for long periods. Neutrogena`s Norwegian hand cream is a good barrier cream.

Two right G.G, I have always used gloves when I do the housework, even to pick up the boys smelling toxic dirty clothes!! L.o.l

Firstly if you are picking at them – STOP, you can cause an infection. I agree with G69, try a moisturising cuticle oil. If that doesn`t work you may possibly have a fungal infection or maybe dermatitis or eczema?
Keep your hands out of water for prolonged periods (wear gloves to do dishes) And wear gloves when cleaning, it could be caused by cleaning chemicals.

Maybe try “”Kiehls imperiale moisturizing cuticle treatment””, I know its for cuticles, but I actually use it on my lips as well, Its great stuff.
A thick rich moisturising treatment with avocado oil and vitamins oils overall hand care maintenance as well an aid in the relief of dry cuticles.
