Overseas Postage Fees

Does anybody know the cheapest way to get beauty products posted from the US.
I have been using FED EX, they cost around $34.00. I know that sounds expensive but the saving I am making on my Sothys cleansers (i buy in bulk) makes it seem OK. In Australia we pay around $69.00 for what I can get for $25USD .My last order os coming via USPS who ever they are. I have to say they could even be Cob & Co and have been ambushed by the Indians for the amount of time it is taking .
Has anybody used Pay Pals shop & go and if so how does it work?

$34 for postage is crazy, there are way better options available. I purchase heaps from the US and always find some great deals with reasonable postage, always less than $10, depending on the size of the order though. Best bet is to shop around, ebay US is a site I purchase from regularly and the sellers charge minimal postage most of the time, even cheaper than the online stores 🙂

Strawberrynet doesn’t cost you any postage and you get discounts depending on the number of products and the number of times you purchase from them. After the 20th time you will always get 10% discount. The site has constant specials as well.

There is a site called MyUSA which acts as your ‘virtual USA address’. You pay a membership fee and then provide the My USA address when you shop US stores and then MyUSA ships the packages to you. This gets around any problems with online stores and retailers that will not ship directly to Australia.

Thanks Hooha, you have given me something to think about. It sure can get complicated. I just wish that we didn’t have to pay so much for our cosmetics. I know that I am using an expensive cleanser but I have tried cheaper ones and they just don’t do it for me. I have been shopping at Skinstore.com for a while now, their prices are just too good to dismiss and I always get 20% off as an added bonus.

Thanks iconic. I will have a look at strawberrynet. If they sell sothys I will be happy to give them a go especially if the postage is cheap.

Hi Missguided1, I only every use PayPal when I shop online as it is much safer. You create a PayPal account which is linked to your credit card and this means that the actual merchant never gets your credit card details. They also have a 45 day dispute resolution system should you need one ( I have had no reason to use this yet and I have made lots of online purchases). The only thing you need to remember is to pay off your credit card lol!

I have used HopShopGo once and I think for big orders it would be ok. The service charges and so on are a bit steep but I only used it as a trial on a small order. There were no problems with the items arriving and I think it only took a couple of weeks. If you were buying a lot of items it would probably be worth it. I just bought three things from MAC and it worked out the same price as it would have cost me here, minus the petrol to drive to Chadstone. 🙂 The FeEx price in comparison does not seem too bad.

Well, you could try searching for sites that offer no postage fee/cheap postage fee. Like, au.strawberrynet.com :]

Sadly, i don’t use paypal. I think it’s like connecting your bank account to your paypal account to pay for online things easier :S I think that’s what someone told me..>.>
