Natural Skincare Stuff :DD

Ok guys. I’m talking homemade remedies, not the natural products we buy.
Have you ever thought to yourself, ‘why am i buying products that are over expensive and calling themselves ‘natural’ when i have half the stuff they put in there in my fridge?’.
Well, i did…recently anyways…
Right now i’m gathering recipes for all types to replace what we usually buy. Some of the ones i pretty much live by right now, they work real well 🙂

Here are some i LOVE LOVE LOVE <3

Exfoliater: Honey + Sugar
Add some sugar with honey, mix. Apply onto face and exfoliate gently for 1-2 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water while gently exfoliating. Splash face with cold water. Pat dry your face 🙂

Pore strips: Milk + Gelatin
Get 1 tsp of unflavoured gelatin and mix with 1 tsp Milk. It should be kinda sandy looking. Now stick it in the microwave for 10 seconds. It should be gooey and warm. Using a foundation brush you wouldn’t use normally, Apply it onto your face. Let it dry COMPLETELY. Slowly pull off from both sides of your face.
note: The strip shouldn’t be too thick or it won’t dry and will be gooey which won’t work.

Hair mask: Avocado + Olive oil + Egg york
Mix half of a peeled/smashed avocado in a bowl with 1-2 tsp olive oil. Add in a egg york. Apply it onto your hair strand by strand and tie it up into a bun after fully applying it onto your whole head. Let it stay that way for 30-40 minutes. Rinse off;shampoo and condition afterwards.
Run cold after in your hair for around 30 seconds.
Pat dry and squeeze hair as it’s very vulnerable right now.

Hope you guys can add on to the list of natural goodies to make. By the way, when you make stuff, there are usually left overs. Just chuck them in your fridge in a container. Most things with egg and yoghurt lasts only for 5 days. 8DD

Also, one that I did the other day which was really great, but had a few draw backs, was a peel of mask. You just need a tablespoon of unflavoured gelatin and half a cup of juice. I used lemon juice, because I have oily skin with some pigmentation (lemon reduces oil, but is also a natural bleach) but watered it down with some noni juice.

You just melt them together in the microwave, and then put the mixture in the fridge for 20 – 30 minutes. It’s supposed to thicken, but not completely set. Then you apply it to your face for 15 – 20 minutes, until it’s dry enough to peel off.

Okay, so the good thing about it was that my skin felt INSANELY soft after I peeled it off. I had never felt such soft skin in my life. It also pulled out a few bits of gunk. The drawbacks were that I made a total mess of my bathroom. It was really hard to put on thick enough, because it would drip off, and if you put it on too thin, it’s impossible to peel off! It took me ages to peel it off – I couldn’t do it in one swift move – and it HURT SO MUCH. It was like waxing my entire face!

I’m going to try it again, though, and see if I can do a better job of it, because the results were really awesome! For a few days after, the pimples on my chin dried up reallly fast. It did leave my skin a little red and irritated, though.

if you don’t mind if i ask but where do you get noni juice? i’ve looked in woolworths and coles from various places but can’t find any. i would love to try it as it has heaps of goodies in them but i should add this article that i’ve found and is unsure if it’s true.

it’s pretty scary. i’m just not sure if i should trust it or not.

but it seems to be true that there are health issues with noni juice but their probably not referred to everyone or perhaps have any impact, just what each company put in their product.

Well I got mine from my local organic grocery store. So if you have any health food/organic stores near you, you could try looking there. I also know that you can buy the “Tahitian Noni” brand off the internet. Mine is a different brand. Noni juice is one of those controversial things I guess. Some people swear by it, but others don’t like the health claims that are made, since there is no scientific evidence. You really just have to make up your own mind.

Oooh Ive heard of the pore strips made from gelatin and milk. I came across it on youtube- you know that makeup guru, Michelle Phan. It sounds really effective! Do you think its good for sensitive skin?

Oh, I just remembered another pore cleaning one! I like these better than biore strips because I can use them on my whole face! You just need an egg white and tissue. You beat the egg white, and then brush some onto your face. While the egg white is still wet, you apply the tissue (either with holes cut out for mouth and eyes, or broken up into separate pieces.) Then you apply a little more egg white over the tissue, and wait for it to completely dry. Try to make sure it’s pressed very flat onto your face, because as it dries it can become unstuck, and then it won’t work properly. Once it’s dry, you peel it off with an upward motion, and hopefully get all the gunk out! You’ll see it on the tissue!

Google is really good for finding at home beauty treatments. You can find everything! Just type in “DIY” and then whatever you want to make! I do it all the time. For example “DIY mask for acne”, “DIY leave in conditioner”, “DIY peel of mask”, “DIY face mask for dry skin”. There’s a million different recipes!

I am a big fan of Dr. OZ (Oprah Show) and here is a butt scrub. I’ve actually started saving all my used coffee grinds storing them in a glass container so its “on hand” every time I do this scrub. By the way I don’t just apply it to my bum and thighs I apply it all over my body.

I always find it so awkward when they use the word fanny in the US because it means something different here, lol!

Those are really good. I’ve never heard about the Milk and Gelatin combo before, but it sounds really interesting.

I’ve never had much success with making my own beauty stuff. I once tried mashing a banana and putting it into my hair (I think I read it somewhere), and even after I washed it I was picking out banana bits for ages. It didn’t smell nice either.

I’ve heard you can use plain yoghurt as a cleanser, which should be easy.
