How to create curls and waves properly?

Hi girls!
i have been doing waves and curls on my hair in a non-traditional way. I spritz some curl enhancer, tie it into a bun and use hair dryer at a close range to create the curls once i took the hair clip off.

I do this because i cant or dont really know what to do with curling tong or even using my ghd. in a way that i dont know whether to curl them in or curl them out? Dis the curling tong facing up or down when curling it? what do i have to spritz before curling it? how to create the proper volume before curling it?

i have been reading soooo many of BH blogs on how to create curls or waves, but there’s none that is step-by-step in detailed that covered my questions above.

Thanks ladies!!!

When I was a kid I used to love doing hairstyles in my nans hair when I would stay over – she had these rods that were about the length of a pen and were wire with a squishy rubber around it and you would wrap the hair around it then bend the rod so that it was tied in a knot and leave till the hair dried. I have been looking for them for ages for myself for a less damaging way to create curls but can’t find them. I think it would be quite similar to Nda’s rag method – if you can find them anywhere 🙂

now since i’ve watched the videos and learn alot abt how to curl hair.. any suggestion abt thermal hair protection?lol

Treseme (sorry I cant spell =[ ) heat thermal protector is great great great !! very affordable too 🙂

Other more natural products I use is Argon oil! Not only does it help your hair stay frizz free but it also helps with dry ends etc!!

yeah i am using tresemme as well, and toussle me softly too. tresemme sounds good to me.
@ natrissara: i’ll check the other thread 🙂

I’ve never been able to use a curler but I brought my daughter a GHD for Christmas and I can even use it. I made curls in my hair the other day and I was so surprised how easy it was. GHD’s are the best!!!
