Blemishes

All the products I use are only short term fixes for blemishes. I have combination skin and its so hard to keep blemishes away long term. They appear on my forehead only too! Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks 😀 x

    Hi hun,
I was prescribed Duac from my doctor, it`s a cream that battle`s pimples before they`re able to get worse and damage your skin. I use that and also the Mario Badescu drying lotion.
(I suffered from cystic acne, so I`ve been through a lot of products for pimples)

I`ve heard that using toothpaste on pimples can be quite dehydrating. I have tried it but I don`t think it worked very well, although it probably depends on the individual. I am using a product called OXY 5 on my skin which has helped to clear it up alot. I use it at night after I have put on moisturiser. Make sure you use the toned version because in my opinion the clear one isn`t as effective. I strongly agree with the water tip. I notice a huge difference in my skin when I do manage to drink loads of water regularly.

don`t switch products too quickly, you could stress out your skin. also, it takes about 6 weeks to 2 months to tell if some products work. i know we`re all after quick fixes, but some of the best products take the longest to work.

Neutrogena does the job. I`ve heard about the toothpaste for pimples. Never tried it but a few of my school friends swear toothpaste works on pimples.

I`ve heard of making a face mask out of aspirin tablets. It sounds odd I know! But many people have sworn by it because aspirin is supposed to contain a form of salicylic acid, great for fighting pimples and that sort..
Basically you crush up around 2-3 tablets and add a few drops of water and it fizzes up into a nice foam (I find Disprin is the brand that does this best). Then apply over your face and leave for 10 minutes or until dry. When you wash it off you can also use the little granules as a scrub. Multi-task!!
It has also been mentioned to use a pore strip if you want to try get those gunky blackheads out as well..
After doing all this I did notice a little reduction in pore size and smoother skin and pimples tend to shrink faster =). HOWEVER, just note that a minority of people find this mask stings too much and is very drying. So make sure you`ve got a good moisturiser on hand for afterwards and don`t try it without leaving a few days in between so your skin`s natural moisture barrier doesn`t go out of whack! I suggest spot testing on a small area first to be safe!
