White yucky residue from lipcolor

Hey girls,

I don’t know what it is but in the last 6 months no matter what lip color or gloss I use, I end up getting “like” a white gunky residue/substance on my lips. Its so gross and I have to wipe it away with tissue paper which then means I’m wiping the lip color off as well. How do I get rid of this problem?

Glad to hear you got a clear bill from your doctor, muraljewel. Paw paw is amazing. Apparently there is a high potent paw paw product on the market which is being discussed on A Current Affair. Hope things go smoothly especially as you are headed to LA next month. x

Good to hear muraljewel. Not good that its the lip colour but at least you are heralthy 🙂 Cat lover, oral thrush is another reason if your body is out of balance (anti-biotics can be a cause for some) that the gunk is there. probiotics are a great idea to help!

Hi CL, went to doc and he said it was nothing probably just the lip color I use. I drink 12 glasses of water a day so it’s not dehydration. I started using paw paw and it’s helped tremendously.

I get this sometimes too, it’s just where the lipstick kind of stops on the inner edge of my lips and sometimes in the corners. Think for me it might be dehydration or something but it’s only occasionally so doesn’t really bother me.

Its not weird to me muraljewel. Certain lipsticks can have this effect on me time to time, not exfoliating and dehydration were big factors for me. Since fixing this (& drinking more water) it hasn’t been an issue. Melmekos tip to blot your lippie is a good one as sometimes if it, or gloss is too thick it ends up caking up together in the corners or lines on the inner side of your lips too. Good luck with your dr’s appointment, with luck they suggest a fix for you 🙂

Well, I’m glad it’s not just me! I’ve found it only happens when I’ve been using lip gloss, not lipstick. Weird.

I only get this if I used zinc based lip balms, but from what I have read here, everyone has pretty much covered all of the tips I have ever seen to eliminate it, such as exfoliating. Also maybe just trying to dry the lipstick by pressing your lips against a tissue before applying the gloss could help, although you mentioned that gloss causes it as well. I would be thinking it could be either dehydration like goddess mentioned or health related, definitely worth chatting to your doctor about it next time you have a consultation 🙂

Dehydration definitely can contribute to this, and exfoliating lips may help too. I have read articles that thrush (hence the drinking probiotics etc to help) can be a cause too. If diet change and more water don’t help then chatting to your GP is a good idea like Roxymisha suggests. Heaps of great suggestions here, hopefully you’ll have it sorted sooner than later 🙂
