Where do I start?

Hi all,

As a single mum, I don’t have much time for myself. So I decided that I should start pampering myself atleast a little, so want to start looking after my skin and wearing make-up. But the problem is I’m on a limited budget, and don’t know where to start with buying decent products and using them properly. Does anyone have any tips?

hey soniactaylor! like hartlucy i would suggest heading into priceline, brands such as rimmel, maybelline and covergirl aren`t expensive at all and even cheaper if u manage to grab the products on sale. they are all good quality too. all the best 🙂

There is at least one post on the BH website about bargain beauty products, I`ve tried to attach the link here: http://www.beautyheaven.com.au/forums/7/topics/922.
It is filed under the Skincare topic. Lots of good suggestions there.

If you on a budget, you can always try to make skin care product from the ingredients store in your pantry. 🙂

1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of sugar, mix them together and exfoliate your face when you are in the shower. Exfoliate and moisturising. 🙂

Bland fresh cream and carrot together and use it as a mask to soften your skin

Hi Sonia, I would also suggest getting on to the sites of any cosmetic brands and joining their mailing lists as they often send out vouchers for free samples, so you can get a little taste of luxury for nothing.

ok great. Try and relax like ariana said, grab a face mask, some candles and the latest mag of yur choice and relax, then pamper yourself. I hope our suggestions have helped you, let us know how you go:) x

I think the first thing to pampering yourself is ensuring that you have the basics – moistriser, exfoliation, cleanser and toner – once you have these you will be able to have the base for being able to have beautiful skin that you can do anything with.

I find a good way of pampering yourself and that is inexpensive is to get a face mask from your local store (price line have heaps that you can buy in sachets until you find the right one for you) and have a relaxing bath with some nice bubbles (even use the kids bubble bath to save money on costs and add a little bit of oil to add that aromatherapy touch) and relax in the tub until your face mask is ready to be washed off. Jump out of the bath and have a cool shower and you will feel like you have died and gone to beautyheaven!

And also for cosmetics and skin care( as well as a massive range of other things) chemist warehouse is great. You can save a few bucks there it is really great, so if you are on a budget soniac then it might be a good place for you to go. All good quality, though some of the other products are impersonater brands such as the perfumes, but the cosmetics and skin care products are generally the real thing 🙂 there are a lot of tips about application of cosmetics around the bh forums which will help you with how to use them , and in this same thread( Help, beauty dilemmas) there is a thread dedicated to PDMUA,who is an expert, where you can ask your questions and she will give you some great answers and advice. http://www.beautyheaven.com.au/forums/4/topics/2549 , that is the direct link to the thread. I hope this helps you:) Any more advice you need feel free to ask, we are all here to help . xx

Your first visit to priceline should include signing up for a rewards card. It`s free and you accumulate points for every purchase over $10. When you get enough points, you get a voucher for a few dollars off your next purchase.

Yes, I would definately recommend Priceline. Like Style Queen said, they stock a wide range of products from the cheaper end of the spectrum to the more expensive end. There`s something for every one.
