When is it too young?
At what age should girls start wearing make up? It varies so much! Opinions on day to day and special occasions please.

I started wearing makeup around age 16 (i`m 21 now), my school back then was a bit strict on it, I have some red blemishes on my face so I just wore foundation and some clear lip gloss, My little sister has been wearing a full face of makeup since 12, I think that`s a little young but to each their own hey

I didn`t start wearing make-up properly until I was 17-18 (I`m 23 now), but my mum made me start moisterising when I was 6-7. Growing up in Europe where the weather was very harsh cold wise, I literally wasn`t allowed out of the house without moisterising my face and putting a lip balm on. So I was taught from a young age to take care of your skin.
When I wanted to wear make-up more often, I only started with lipglosses/balms and a few eyeshadows. I honestly didn`t start wearing foundation until I was 18. My first foundation was a Revlon compact creme, and that was a good investment, as it lasted me for ages, considering I was still in school, and I didn`t believe in wearing make-up to school. I reckon it lasted me for abit over a year.
So I thank my mum for making me start taking care of my skin at an early age, and made me understand that if you have fabulous skin, there`s no need for much make-up 🙂

Hi Annie, it probably was the makeup that didn`t suit your skin type that is why your skin probably broke out. A lot of makeup contain clogging ingredients that is why you should watch out what you use, and definitely a good skincare routine would do good for your skin.
You should try toning down the makeup you use and start simple so your skin can hopefully heal back normally, or better just use a tinted moisturiser.

I started wearing make up at my late 15 and now i regret it 🙁 .My skin was good then, clear… after wearing make up for a while i was addicted though i was doing proper make up ( base, foundation, powder then wash off everything at the end of the day) then my skin was broke out, pimples, uneven skin tone so i have to wear make up to get a bit of confident.Ishould have listened to my mom 🙁 …

I am in year 9 (so still young ^^) and I don`t wear foundation because I don`t need it, and there are alot of girls who wear foundation and don`t need it. I wear a little concealer under my eyes and on my few blemishes, just a little bit of eyeliner (nothing heavy) and some mascara.
The reason I wear what I have is because I have low self esteem(I don`t wear it everyday though), and if makeup helps me get out of bed in the morning, and helps me get through the day then I say go for it.Girls around my age I think is fine to wear mascara and eyeliner (not really think black or anything) as it is part of growing up. I have a problem however with people pressuring others into makeup, sounds strange but it happens.
So just to sum up- girls 13 years up should be allowed to wear makeup, but not in an extream way, maybe a little mascara and concealer. I also think that girls should be taught how to put on makeup properly so they don`t look like someone who has just been in a pie-fight!(alos chocochicky- I agree, my mum taught me about makeup, so I don`t feel the need to wear it every day)

My daughter is 8 and she has make-up. She has coloured lip glosses, eye shadows and blush. She was given some cheap make-up for her 6th b`day and it made her eyelids very pink and sore 🙁 So I bought her a few of the shimmery coloured Lip Smackers glosses. I also gave her my lipsticks that I don`t wear anymore. She uses a blush I bought in the wrong colour and some L`oreal shadows I recieved as unwanted gifts.
She recieved her first beauty products at age 3 for Xmas: Lip Smackers tin filled with 6 or 8 chap sticks that smelled yummy with sunscreen.
She knows not to wear make-up during the week and will only use it maybe once every 2 months for dress ups only and never out of the house.
I truly believe that if you teach them young to know what true beauty is and having fun with make-up is just “”fun”” and not “”important”” that there should be no problems. -

Im a high school senior student and I don`t wear make up because I feel I`m too young. I go to an all girls school and I personally don`t see the point in wearing make up to (my) school. I have pimples but I don`t even conceal it, although I wish it was concealed! My main priority is sunscreen. I have two tubes of sunscreen, one for the face (an `expensive` one) and a cheaper one for my hands and neck.
I`ll probably wear make up when I`m older like in Uni, but that will be `natural looking` makeup..or I might just go out with a blank canvas. -

Thats a tough one – but I think it also depends on the amount of make up worn. A touch of lip colour and mascara is a lot different from lashing of caked on makeup. I also think its worth teaching the girl how to apply her make up correctly – so many girs I see with caked on make up, wrong colours – they look absolutely dreadful.
My daughter started wearing makeup when she was 17 – totally her own choice – up until then she had no interest in makeup.
