What is cold cream?

Hi All

I’m just wondering if anyone knows what cold cream is/means? I’ve seen a few of them around (Ponds, Avene etc) but how do they vary from a normal moisturising cream? Apparently Kylie Minogue loves the Ponds one lol

Thanks! OG xxx

Cold creams are not suitable for acne prone skin and people with sensitive skin should be aware of the ingredients listed

Thanks for clearing up that mystery lol! Sounds like a great product to use to remove makeup before cleansing at night 🙂

Avon make one called Clean Cream that doesn’t appear to have any mineral oils in it, although it is packed with other oils. It’s rich and creamy and easily dissolves makeup, including waterproof varieties. Any cold cream will get off the heavy, waxy stick foundations and stage makeup. If my skin’s particularly dry, I’ll cleanse with cold cream and not rinse off, as it’s very moisturising (well, the Avon one is anyway). Most times, however, I’ll use a toner to remove the last traces of cream +/- makeup, then moisturise as usual.

its full of beeswax & mineral oil. Ponds is now Dove & has been for a few years. You can also leave it on if your skin is ridiculously dry but I dont like usng mineral oil on my skin. The oil in it attracts the oil in your make up. If you were to use one I would definitely recommend cleansing afterwards. Theyre cheap as chips too the Dove one is like 5bucks

It’s an old fashioned, creamy kind of makeup remover, you put it on, and then wipe off with cotton wool etc, and it should wipe off a lot of your makeup. So it is different from a moisturiser, hope that helps!
