very, very sensitive skin

My friend has very, very sensitive skin. Virtually everything she tries (skin care and makeup) reacts causing rashes and acne (even swelling).
She can use Clinique. But I am keen to hear if anyone out there has a similar problem and what (if any) products they can safely use.
Cheers :]

Did you get a paraben free mineral makeup fairypuff, as alot of commercial ones contain heaps of irritants that can upset sensitive skin. Also you should make sure your daughter used only natural products, organic would be best in this case I believe, you don`t want to risk any chemicals irritating the skin further. Same goes for washing detergent, don`t use one that contains irritants. If you can keep that under control then hopefully you can then avoid the phenergan, that stuff makes you awfuly drowsy, even when you do take it at night, you feel tired during the day as well. Good luck. 🙂

My daughter also suffers from sensitive sknin. I brought her mineral make up but it didnt make a difference.
I took her to the doctors recently who recommended I give her phenergan at night.
Im not real keen on the idea and prefer to try to stick to natural based products as I find it works best for me.

I`d get onto Alchemy – a gorgeous Australian brand suitable for even the most sensitive skins. The products are all natural and very affordable!

Definitely agree with you there mel. 🙂

In terms of specific ingredients too, tell her to look out for SLS in any kind of washes, parabens in moisturisers and the like, propylene glycol, mineral oil and paraffin wax and oil… all these known to create skin irritation. Of course even with natural products you have to patch test things first, but the lack of chemicals really attracts me and I`ve had amazing success on my sensitive skin and scalp.

Oh and tell her to give aloe vera gel from the health food shop a try, wonderfully soothing stuff!
