Vaseline make lashes thicker & longer??

Has anyone heard that applying Vaseline (the type in the jar, petroleum jelly) to your eyelashes makes them grow thicker and longer? I’ve heard a lot about this; that it does work, does nothing or is bad for your lashes. If you google search it you get a heap of questions about it, all with mixed responses.
Has anyone tried this or know anything about it?
Thanks (:

Coconut oil does the trick and is more natural and is antibacterial so will prevent all the infections people are warning you of

My mum used to tell me this so I believed her and applied Vaseline to my eyelashes before bed. But it did nothing. #Disappointment. But I’ll tell you what works from experience:

Almond oil + olive oil + coconut oil + castor oil.

I don’t know about the quantity because I just add however much I think I need to last me a few months. Use an empty, clean mascara tube and apply to eyelashes and eyebrows before going to bed. The results is thicker, darker and longer hair.

You can also research oils that make eyelashes thicker or something. That’s how I got this. Hope it helps!

Feel like it’s just a myth, tried this a couple years ago and didn’t notice a visible difference.

I wouldn’t want to use Vaseline on my lips let alone near my eyes.

It doesn’t make them grow thicker and longer but it makes them appear it, similar to the works of a cheap mascara. However, Vaseline has chemicals in it that makes it terrible to put near your eyes or mouth, a good substitute product is paw paw ointment!

I have found that olive oil and macadamia oil (possibly some other oils too) really do make them grow longer and thicker! Xx

I don’t think Vaseline has anything to do with making lashes longer and thicker. However it can provide moisture to the hair which helps in stopping any hair fall or hair breakage.

I agree with some others & would not do this!

I’ve heard cold-pressed castor oil is good for lash growth, but I’m not really sure. Surely anything that moisturises your lashes will help them be able to grow longer & fuller?
You could try google whether there are any DIY serums or whatever for growing lashes? I know I’ve seen one on youtube before but I’ve forgotten where.

I have used Vaseline to remove eye makeup some years ago and I know that its strong enough to remove the moisture from my eyes so they started stinging. I’m just glad I did it at night time and could go to sleep and close my eyes to stop the dry burning.

I wouldn’t really recommend Vaseline for the eyes and not for dry chapped lips even though it soothes dry lips, it is a petro product and that’s not good. So I don’t use it at all nowadays.

I dunno…wouldn’t be similar to putting straight up petrol on your eyes? :/

No idea whether Vaseline helps or not, but coconut oil is supposedly good! It helps to condition and nourish your hair which is why I use it for the hair on my head (it works wonders) so I assume it has a similar effect on lashes? I use it to remove my eye makeup at night because everything else seems to burn my eyes…and I leave the oil residue on because surely it does no harm 🙂
