Using hair colour while pregnant

Do you think it’s safe to use hair colourant when you are pregnant? I tended to still use colours that will wash out within a few washes, as there is no ammonia in them and no overpowering smells. But anything beyond that, like semi permanent or permanent, I would think could not be good.

For both my pregnancies I coloured my hair in the last month before bubs were born, I wasn`t going to at all but just couldn`t stand the regrowth any longer. I think it is ok to do but the fumes in the first few months would have made me hurl.

dont know but latest research has crushed the link between hair dyes (deordarants too) causing cancer so maybe their not that dangerous i`d ask ur doctor what she reckons

There is another thread with a similar topic, but if it were dangerous it would be labeled on the pack of dye. I have never heard of anybody having problems because they dyed their hair when pregnant. I had my hair done too – pregnant and breastfeeding and my kids all have 5 fingers and 6 toes. LOL

My hairdresser said it`s just a myth about problems associated with hair colouring and pregnancy. I had foils put in my hair throughout my pregnancy.

I think highlights are OK, but I wouldn`t be doing anything other than that.

I continued to colour my hair throughout my 5 pregnancies, some I did myself and other dye jobs I had done at the salon.
Just don`t do it as often, and try to have a fan going and windows open, if you are doing it yourself.
All my children are perfectly healthy.
My hairdresser said it is safe, but ask your own hairdresser and see what she recommends.
The decision is entirely up to you.
