Travel Hair

I’ve got naturally wavy hair but when left alone it looks too yuck. I can put mousse in and scrunch it but I was wondering if anyone else had suggestions for nice hair do’s when you have limited products in your backpack?

Ooh thanks for the tip music! Yeh haven`t got them yet coz don`t go away til jan anyway…might have to check out reject shop though – sounds like a very cheap option!

elmo, if you`re still after those travel containers, Reject Shop sells them for $2 (2 mini bottles + 3 round containers for creams). Bargain!

pink sapphire, don`t worry, I have very dark hair and dry shampoo works ok, doesn`t leave any white bits. 🙂

Thanks for the suggestions – might try the bi carb all over first!

I think having dark hair you just have to be more diligent about rubbing into the dry shampoo…

I lost this topic for some reason… took me a while to find it again…

Not a worry Elmo, oh and the bi carb works on the bod as well, or you could try raw sugar too (I mix it with body wash, or oil), it will do the same thing as the rock salt, (might be a a little gentler) not sure on the price comparison though.

Thanks for the dry shampoo suggestions, they scare me a bit, I have dark hair, and worry that I`ll end up looking like I have dandruff, am I being ridiculous?

When I went to Europe a few years ago, I had the same problem. It was autumn, but the moisture in the air wrecked havoc on my hair. Instead of resorting to lots of product, I just bought a beret (good for taming hair AND looking cute!) and spent the rest of the time with my hair in messy chignons and ponytails.
Perhaps try dry shampoo (like batiste, samy etc), which sort of acts like a mousse if applied to the roots and massaged in a bit.

Thanks for the info about bi-carb – sounds like a really great, cheap and gentle way to exfoliate – and no point in spending money on products you can just make yourself! I`m also just going to buy some sea salt and keep that in a container as well for body scrub.

Soz can`t help with camping suggestions…only did camping when I had to at school! Maybe those powder shampoos could be worth looking at though?

Hey Elmo, don`t know if you have the travel bottles yet, but I have seen them at Coles.

Oh and I use bi carb in cleanser to exfoliate, it does work, doesn`t irritate it & leaves my skin silky soft.

Another Q about travel hair – it looks like I`m going to be roughing it in the new year, for a month or so, (staying in a monastry in southern india) does anyone have any tips for washing your hair while camping etc?
