    Hi guys !

If it can help for my wedding I booked Sydphotos, they have a website. They provide photographers and stylists for hair and make up. And actually I was really happy with the result. Hope that will help.

    Cheers good luck

Thanks so much for all your help ladies.
We’ve got almost everything down at the moment. Just need a DJ and cake for th venue and then a hair and makeup artist for me. Im hoping to get someone who does both as it might be cheaper and its easier than having too many people at the place. Any suggestions?

    No worries!

We got married at Logreef golf club:

I could not rate these guys any higher – they were absolutely fantastic. They do book out fairly far in advance in summer, however getting amrried on a thurs im sure wont be a prob.

They were brilliant because they provided the cake person, DJ, decorator so there was very little i had to organise…which was good as i dispised wedding planning!

We had a very laid back wedding – it was more of a party for us than a formal occassion, and this venue was perfect for that. We had roaming cocktail rather than sitdown – however I’m sure that they’d do any option really well.

We chose them because we really wanted to get married on the beach but also wanted a summer wedding and where could you find a beach in sydney that wouldnt be packed. We were also worried about it raining and the good thing with long reef was that if it was raining on the day they’d move the wedding ceremony to the dancefloor which had floor to ceiling windows overlooking the ocean so it still would have been stunning.

We only checked out places on the northern beaches and this was actually had one of the most reasonable packages…though its prob gone up in the last 3 yrs, but for us it was $121/head and this included booze, cocktail food, wedding cake, dj and some decorations. We had checked out Jonah’s in whale beach and that place started at $250/head and it did not include booze…it quickly got culled!!

If you need a celebrant then i also can’t recommend ours – Ann Dally, any more highly. She was brilliant. We actually went for funny vows rather than serious which she helped us with (ie I vowed to listed to my husbands tennis stories, no matter what time of the day or night he feels the need to tell me them…he vowed to always clean up after me and to allow an extra hour to get anywhere as i have zero sense of direction!) – these were great because i was just starting to get emotional at some mushiness then out came the funny parts and i burst out laughing and it calmed me down!

WOW! beautystar thank you so much for sharing your experience 🙂
We have a date 12.1.12 at this stage but thats it. Its a Thursday (and a year to the date from when we got engaged) but its a special date for us so we didnt really care.
Not sure about budget at this stage but I think Alan might be a bit pricey for us. Just had a look at his site though and he looks fab! I can understand why your hubby didnt get along with him – I would prob be the same – but yeah can also understand that he knows his stuff.
I went to a place in Bexley on the weekend but they really didnt have anything that wowed me. Im looking at all lace so might give the Rockdale place a go as the ones on their site look beautiful. I can deal with nut jobs as long as the end result it worth it lol
Where did you have your reception? We are looking to do it all in the one place too. I know as a guest how hard it is to go from one to the other and still be able to drink so we wanted no faffing about with things like changing venues.

Do you have a budget?? or a date of the wedding – from memory ther is a wedidng expo in april which is a good place to get lots of info in one go

this is the photographer i used:
    http://www.alankhan.com.au/site/index.asp
He is bloody amazing but freaking expensive. I got married 3 yrs ago so no idea what prices are like now but originally our wedding package was just under $3000 (around $2750) which included 2 photographers that went to each of our houses before hand to photograph us getting ready then stayed on for the full wedding and reception (we didnt actually have alan on the day…but that was a good thing because hubby didnt get along with him, the photographers he sent were brilliant), pre wedding photoshoot from which we got 3 photos blown up onto a huge canvas that people then signed on the day – it is now hanging up and looks awesome, a 4×6 copy of every photo taken (ended up being just under 1000), every digital negative plus a 20 slide album and 2 parents albums (mini versions of ours)…the 20 slide album was where he got us. I asked to see an example of one but he said he didnt have one on hand, then when we were getting all our photos ready for the album we were told to pick all the ones we like and they will put them together and if there are extra pages we can always removed them. we didnt think we went over the top but ended up with a 60 slide album that cost us an extra $3000. However, the photos were so amazing that there were no pages we could delete. So we were extremely happy with the end result but hit did hurt the hip pocket!! Also, the album is done magazine style rather than individual pic stuck in – I’ll try and take a photo of one of our pages so you know what i mean.

The reason hubby didnt get along with alan was that alan is super arrogant and thigns are done his way or not at al…however, in his defence he has been doing this for long enough to know what works and what doesnt and so won’t do anything that wont work as it will mean you wont be happy with the finished product ie we got married and had the reception at the same venue so were planning on having the photos done between the wedding and reception. i thought an hour would be long enough but he wouldnt do it. he made us have have our photos done before the wedding as he said that he needed at least 2 hours to do a decent job. he also said that even though we think we have left an hour between the wedding and reception for photos, the wedding will most likely run late, plus everyone will want to hug and chat to you after so that would leave less than 30 mins for photos…fair enough…

i got my hair and makeup done at my local westfield – so i went to my normal hairdresser then went to napolean for the makeup. very happy with both and with both cases we did trials beforehand.

i got my dress from hugs for brides in rockdale. the owner was a bit of a nut job but i actually found the dress i liked at the bridal expo so thats how i found out about the store. before i went there i had looked in the dymocks building plus gone to a few places in parramatta.

  • 13 yrs, 10 mths ago

Ooh thanks softness! Iv been to the Dymocks building so far but didnt know there was one in the QVB. Where abouts in there?

  • 13 yrs, 10 mths ago

The QVB is a great place to start. I got my wedding dress from there which was featured in a bridal magazine that I’d spotted and wanted. Congrats Skinny!! : )
