swelling! hair! health!

hey everybody!
wow…my first post! well, here goes!

about three weeks ago i had an operation to realign my jaw since it was jutting out too much and lala~ too many details! but heres my concern! after the op my face was obviously swollen and it went down alot however, its been three weeks and not meaning to sound impatient but its still noticeably swollen and i have no ideas of how to bring it down or hasten its healing process!

if anyone has any ideas id be real grateful! plus im planning to get a haircut before i return back to school… does anyone have any ideas for a cut that helps in concealing such err…problems?
ALSO is it alright to take vitamin supplements at this point as i havent been eating real food for weeks (stuck on a liquid diet but starting to go on solids)…i thought about this as i started to get these REALLY big bags under my eyes that wont leave me!

well i think thats it….hopefully

Your haircut sounds lovely. You should be able to get Arnica at health shops and most chemists.

    thanks guys!
I just had my hair cut today and yes, i went for a side swept fringe and it looks great! good info Elmo! however i cut my hair pretty short (almost like a boy cut) but thanks to Tony & Guy it actually looked better than when i had medium length hair!

As for arnica it sounds like this might help a tad (i`ll have to check for my closest seller) but i guess the best method is alot of R&R!

Witch Hazel is another great one for bruising. Hope you get well soon, sbeez. 🙂

Elmo`s right, arnica is great for swelling and bruising. You can get a gel, cream and tablets, I`d recommend that you use the tablets and the cream or gel for the best results. I hope you start feeling better soon!

Sorry sbeez – sounds like you had a similar op to my sister! She had a jaw operation several years ago (where they had to break her jaw and re-allign it) – and unfortunately you really just have to wait it out! It`s a lot of trauma for your body to go through – I know it took 6 weeks for her to recover? Though she did have to go to her yr 11 formal still a little swollen!
    .
I wouldn`t have thought ice would do much as I thought that only worked immediately after injury, I could be wrong though.
    .
I think there`s a natural cream called arnica which is good for bruising – but not sure about swelling?
    .
As for you hair – I`d have it as long as possible – it`s more slimming that way (rather than having a bob or something which will just make your face look rounder!) – perhaps with a side swept fringe to skim your face also.
    .
If your face isn`t too sore you could try maybe contouring with some bronzer to create the illusion of slimmer cheeks etc until your swelling goes down?
    .
As for vitamins, prob is best to check with your doctor but as long as you`re not on any other medication I`m sure taking basic vitamins like vit c would be ok?

    ah ic ic.
hmm i guess it would be best to ask my doctor about the vitamins to be safe! siigh* if only there was a magical de-swelling product…if only~
ive been doing pretty much just as you`ve said style queen by putting ice packs on my cheeks… its helped a bit!

hey sbeez, welcome to beautyheaven! 🙂 . i think vitamin suppliments would be a great idea if you have been on liquids since your operation. i am not sure about the swelling, but you could try holding ice covered in a thin towel over it? i think you should ask your doctor thoguh before taking any advice you might receive on beautyheaven just to be sure! i will have a bit of an investigation and see if i can find anything for you.
