Sunscreen

its so great to be on this forum and I just wanted to start a new topic on sunscreen. everyone seems to be raving about invisible zinc. Marketing plays such a huge role in our buying choices. I am going to do some research on the ingredients, because I have heard so many girls saying it is natural. Its impossible! anyway, not to be a pain, but the sun is also good for us, it is full of Vitamin D and we need Vitamin D. Research has proven that sunlight will not cause skin cancer, rather it is sunburn that we need to watch out for. the only fully natural sunscreen I have come across that isnt heavy and gluggy is an inidan brand that was made up of herbs, it was fantastic. Doesnt pass the australian TGA unfortunately. lets not get caught up in marketing girls and do our research.

I agree Oliveoil after I had facial recently the spf moisturiser they put on my skin did have a slight burning sensation, most chemical sunscreens leave my face oily whereas the zinc is completely matte on my skin, and it stays that way all day 😉

Zinc is best on sensitive skin. It doesn’t irritate as much as chemical sunscreens. I’ve tried the tinted invisible zinc and it made me greasy and felt heavy on my face. I still use it occasionally though, after facial treatments when my face is sensitive and burns when I put chemical sunscreens.

Wow and I though I had it tough when it come to greasy skin, hehe, IZ is by far the best and one of the only things that doesn’t make me greasy at all, lol. But all products are different for different people so we can never expect the same results as someone else unfortunately!!

I don’t know what it is about my skin, Mel, but even IZ gets greasy on my face. I always cleanse/tone before putting it on, and don’t moisturise because then that makes it even greasier!

Sound like a good offer. Is it still on? I’d really want to trial it before buying a full sized one.

The thing I love about IZ most is that it stays matte on my face all day long, I don’t think the Woolies one would be suitable for me as I can’t stand anything greasy on my face that is already oily enough. Thanks so much for the feedback Bide I really appreciate it, saves me wasting money on another product that I would never use 🙂

hey Mel! for some reason the forum wouldn’t recognise my username over the weekend, but the main page did, no idea what’s up with that but it seems to be working now.

The Woolies one… Elmo, and Mel it’s only got one active ingredient and that’s zinc oxide.

It lists ingredients as: Zinc Oxide 200mg/g
contains Vitamin E and Aloe Vera
    hydroxybenzoates, benzyl acohol, phenoxyethanol

So Mel, it comes out of the tube white, a bit thick but not as thick as tinted IZ, and it spreads easily. Once it’s settled there’s a smallish bit of whiteness that’s left, it doesn’t bother me but if it bothers you, you can always give it a flourish of mineral powder or even mix in a tiny dab of liquid foundation before you put it on your face for colour. I really like it. It gets greasy at times, but I just add some powder over it and that grease looks more glowy than oily. It’s a bit like IZ – IZ also feels a bit greasy on me after a while. Honestly it feels like 90% the same product as ESP, just in different packaging and not as thick. I’m currently using it for my ears, arms and neck area and leaving ESP for my face. It’s just as hard to take off as IZ for me! I usually have to cleanse twice (I followed your advice on that one Mel). It doesn’t really have a strong smell. I’m not sure I’d recommend it for your face (I know how pedantic we all are!) but I really like it for other smaller areas that you’d rather not waste IZ/ESP on.

Not overly worried about all the ingredients the actives would be fine just to find out if it is actually the same as IZ or not, and most defiantely interested in the comparison of the two, where are you Bide, hehe 🙂

I’m using invisible zinc atm, but I saw one by Le Tan called everyday mineral sunscreen or something like that….at priceline it was all sold out so I was wondering if any of you girls have tried it and what do u think of it?

It might be hard to do that mel – for some reason sunscreens often don’t list all their ingredients – they’re only required to list the active ingredients. 🙁
