SPF for acne prone skin!

As summer is drawing closer, I am facing my yearly dilemma: can’t find a sunscreen that won’t clog my pores and cause breakouts! Suggestions anyone?

I would like to find one something I can use as an everyday moisturiser, with spf 15 at least, a tinted one would be even better! Have tried one from Dove but it is a little too oily for me!
thankful for any tips or comments!

Nivea Light Daily Face Veil is non greasy so possibly that could work well too.

thanx music. I have dry/sensitive skin so I`d still be interested to understand more about my skin types and what it needs to keep it nourished, etc. I will definately look into it when I get the chance. Thanx for the other book suggestion as well 🙂 I occassionally get Borders Vouchers emailed to me so the next time I get a discount voucher on a non-fiction book I will definately get myself a good skincare/makeup book 🙂

Oh, forgot to say, apparently J&J is one of her sponsors, so sometimes she plugs their stuffs and she`s also a great believer in Retin-A for every skin problem. LOL. I`ve heard people saying some of the ingredients on products she recommended are not consistent with the ingredients she recommended people to use/to avoid for their particular skin type.

So everyone`s conclusion seems to be: follow her ingredients recommendations, but take the product recommendations with a pinch of salt & always, ALWAYS check ingredients of products you`re interested.

BO, the book is more about knowing your skin types and what will/will not work on it. It does explain about certain ingredients but not comprehensively. If you`re after more in-depth info about certain ingredients & their impact, I would suggest you read “”Cosmetics Unmasked”” by Stephen & Gina Antzak. I`ve raved about this book somewhere in the forum few months ago, if you do a search it should be there. 🙂

thanx music. I will certainly look it up the next time I go to Borders. I try not to get caught up in the brand suggestions either but I`m interested in reading about certain ingredients and their impact on the skin. I`m so glad it`s worked for you 🙂

    Sandra…hi!
Tinted moisturisers with an SPF are great options but make sure you feel the texture as you do not want it too rich as you are acne prone.
Dermalogica Oil-Free Sunblock has an SPF 20 I think and is fantastic for an oily/acne prone skin.
I hope this helps you 🙂

    • Elmo & Yubi325, I`m not an expert on face sunscreen as I`ve only used Ella Bache Sunguard on my face since living in OZ. It`s suncscreen-foundation–concealer-moisturiser-in-1 for me… 🙂 I have to apply translucent powder on top so that it doesn`t budge, otherwise it could slide-off easily. Works for me.

For my neck & the rest of my body I`m using Natural Instinct. I haven`t tried it on the face yet as I`m waiting for the Ella Bache to finish. I bought NI as I read some good reviews on it, could be a little drying if you don`t put moisturiser underneath and a little ghosting if you don`t rub it properly.

Another good one that I`m interested to try is the lightly tinted Invisible Zinc. It received raving reviews in UK since it first came out!!! In my opinion English ladies are always obsessed about their skin, so if they think it`s good, it must be good. I`m no English rose but all the products being recommended by them “”poms”” work for me. 🙂 For example, I discovered Elemis and Sanctuary spa brands there, and very pleased with them.

    • BO, yes, you can get it at Borders or order it from bookshop if they don`t have it in stock. I borrowed the book from the local library. 🙂 Read it, BO, it`s so worth it. I don`t follow the brands recommendation but I copied all the good and bad ingredients that are relevant to my skin type. Works so far!

Here`s the link of the original discussion of the book, thanks to miakat for sharing this book, and also to glossqueen, I`m a convert now!

that Skin Type Solutions book sounds interesting music. I`m quite interested in certain ingredients myself. I might have to investigate this book further. Where can you purchase this book from? I wonder whether Borders have it?

Coconut and jojoba oil, got it! I`m very interested in what sunscreen you`d recommend too, music! I`ve been searching for one for quite a while now…
