I think it is mainly to do with causing a reaction. The other reason would be it could easily get dots on your skin, like someone mentioned because the tan will settle into the pores and make your tan patchy and uneven as the pores are still wide open.

I found that if I shaved and got dry scaley legs that the St Tropez left me with spotty/patchy legs, but found that a light moisturiser like Cetaphil spread on the knees/ankles/elbows and swept over everwhere else really helped prevent this. So probably doing it like you did and waiting a couple of hours to see if your post-shave legs got scaley was the way to go maybe?

Glad it worked for you. St. Tropez mousse has been one of the best things I’ve gained from BH so far 🙂

    hey ,

i did it anyway! no dramas at all. didnt even sting.
and the next day it looked perfect <3

so what are the reasons behind it ? just irritation?
    maybe my skin is tough

I used St Tropez mousse after shaving as I was in a rush and it stung when I put it on and my pores were darker than the rest of me. No further irritation and I still had a natural looking tan, but wouldn’t do it again. Hope it turned out ok!!

you should never apply tan until 24 hours after waxing therefore shaving is about the same and for best results with the tan u should exfoliant the night before and avoid perfumes and deodorant!

Never ever apply your fake tan to freshly shaved legs, you have to shave the night before and apply your tan the next morning 🙂

ive done it before with lotions, and never gave it a second thought.

hmm, normally I would wait till the next day to apply the tanner. Am actually doing the shave/tan thing on fri/sat for this weekend myself. I have applied after shaving once but it was a tan gel and it worked well without any reactions but ideally isn’t how to do it. Applying straight away can give more risk of irritation, reaction etc. Might leave skin spotty (where you shaved) too dependning on what type of fake tan it is.
