Products with impractical packaging

It’s such a let down when a great product just isn’t in a great bottle or dispenser. Personally I think that products in jar aren’t the most hygienic, because you dip your fingers in it and all the bacteria from your skin goes into the cream. I’ve been told to use disposable spatulas or q tips, but sometimes that seems like a little bit of a waste.

However, I just bought a product that has a more annoying problem. The bottle of jojoba oil I bought has a really wide neck which is just impossible to pour out small amounts or without dripping.

Have you found products with these problems? Or do you have creative solutions for them.

I hate foundations with the built in brush on the top. At first, I thought this was a great idea! Then you realise it just come out in the middle, so you get stripes. But you can’t use the brush to blend it, because there’s still more product that makes more stripes! I also like to wash my brushes to keep them clean, and those built in things just shed. I think they waste a lot of product too. Never again!

I have the double ended issue too but with a makeup brush. One end is capped and the other is retractable, so when I take the cap off to use it, out of habit I put it on the other tip-end, then when I’m finished and I pull the cap off, the whole brush comes out the other end.

I can’t for the life of me understand foundation in glass bottles.

And I really hate double-ended things, particularly mascaras.

And I hate those bottles where you push one side of the cap to lift the opening on the other. So many travel shampoos have this and they open themselves and get everywhere in my toiletry bag.

I agree about the tubs of creams, I hate that….It is so unhygienic. I think soap is so impractical too. Everytime I use a bar of soap, I spend half the shower juggling it as it keeps slipping, that’s why I’m a complete bodywash convert now, so much more convenient.

The Australis HD finishing powder has the most impossible plastic cover to remove. I can’t do it – have tried several times and am so angry with it!

Urban Decay Primer Potion. Need I say more? Worst. Packaging. Ever. (For those who have it in the original curvy tube, check out YouTube for how to extract a crazy amount of product from the packaging once you think it’s empty.)

Ah yes, these are very common marketing ploys to get us to waste their product and buy more sooner. Very annoying! I can’t stand when companies treat their customers like idiots.

A few examples of poorly designed packaging currently in my bathroom:
~ make-up remover – it’s in a bottle with a wide mouth & I always pour way more than what’s neccesary onto the cotton pad.
~ body scrub – i use this in the shower & the screw top lids are such a pain to undo with wet hands etc. I’ve found almost all brands of body scrubs are designed this way, the last tub I had accidentally crashed off the top of my shower door and it took me a long time to clean up the green goo that went everywhere!
Incidentally, I just realised that both of the above products are by Neutrogena hmmmm.

I get annoyed that when you are in the shower you can’t leave the tub on the floor of the shower without the lid on because it just fills up with water.

hate tubs of moisturisers too! they go in my nails and are annoying, i much prefer tubes.
i usually dip my brush in the foundation bottles if there arent pumps, im not really the kind to pour it onto my hand. haha maybe a bad habit though… 🙂

I had a liquid foundation that didn’t have a pump and a wide neck. It was so annoying! I always accidentally poured out too much
