Products Swap Thread

Hi girls,

Seeing the successes of the ‘Beauty Product Swap Thread’, I thought I’d create a thread of product swaps for things other than beauty i.e. perfumes, hair accessories, handbags, etc in near to new condition.
Please feel free to add items that you’re willing to swap with another person, and hopefully this can be just as easy as the other swap thread.
xx

Air travel, is only no liquids over 100 mls which is only for international!
Domestic is only sharp objects and aerosols.

Well, at Australia Post I was told you could send anything via them but basically if it was flammable you could only send it via road transit, not via air and that’s when I’d sold perfumes and nail polishes in eBay auctions so I don’t just, just relaying what I’d been told.

As Shazam pointed out these items are now prohibited. Even by road freight. They changed the rules a few years back. That doesnt mean that people dont do it, and it doesnt mean the rules arent silly 😛 But I personally just dont take that risk. If it gets confiscated and my swapee doesnt get their goods, its going to cause issue. As is anything if they track me down for sending a prohibited item. I’d rather play it safe personally.

But that being said, many girls have still managed to send items like these via AusPost. Guess its an individual decision. But just make it an informed decision 🙂

Check out this .pdf about dangerous goods for Australia Post deliveries (Pages 7-9). I can see aerosols, perfume and varnish and varnish removers that are prohibited.

I guess with sending these products, it’s best just to send via courier on the road.

I’ve sent nail polish in swaps before. The first time I did it, I asked the people working at the post office if it was ok to send it and they said it was fine. So in the other times I swapped nail polishes, I just sent them off and so far none of them have gone missing or anything.

I wonder how all the perfumes I have received have made it to me safe and sound, with nobody getting fined or anything, all interstate as well I might add. I just got one this week and one last week as well?? Does the same rule also apply with nail polishes??

    Yep. Anything flamable.

I thought it was only air travel they weren’t permitted to go on but if you didn’t sign the thing you couldn’t have it sent by air? It just takes longer to recieve because it has to travel via road.

Yeah. So basically they can come anytime on that allocated day (so make sure you or someone will be home!) and you just fill out the consignment notice that gets emailed to you. You hand that attached to the package to the courier when they show up, and then they deliver it to the designated address. If noone will be there to sign for it, make sure you tick “safe drop” – otherwise if they have to re-deliver, you might get charged a fee for re-delivery.

The good thing about a courier is that you can also track your package. There is a tracking number on the consignment notice.

Hope that answers any questions you might have!

It makes sense now!! Thanks darl!
