Oily skin
I have oily skin, but dont want to dry it out too much as I’m over 30.
Is the best way to minimise oil with a purifying mask? If so, any great ones?

Oily skin may not dry out as much – but it is EVERY BIT as susceptible to sun damage!!! You always need an spf, oil or no oil! UV damage is the biggest aging component of all, up there with smoking (ick.)
Clay masks are actually all made with really similar ingredients, kaolin base with a few other things. I really like the priceline one, its a bargain at $3, and it isn`t too harsh on my skin.
I have super oily skin and I find the Cetaphil range is brilliant, I have noticed good results with that. Not too drying but thoroughly cleansing. -

Nah, you don`t need too much anti-aging stuff, scentsation, those products didn`t even exist when my mum was in her 30s. LOL… personally I believe wearing sunscreen and hat/umbrellas are the BEST preventative measure. Unfortunately anti-aging stuff are mostly formulated for drier skin, to “”plump up”” the skin more and not tailored for oily/combo skin.
Sometimes I think companies are trying to rip us “”oilies/combos”” off by trying to convince us to use products we don`t need. Good sales assistants (the ones who don`t try to sell you everything you don`t need or things that don`t suit your skin just to boost up their sales) have said that my mum only needs to use TINY bit of serum if she really wants to, no moisturiser needed whatsoever because of the oiliness. Her dermatologist said the same thing. Her skin actually turns heaps better after only using baby soap for cleansing and no other lotions/potions!!! Unbelievable, isn`t it… I can`t believe she can be that low maintenance and looking that good for her age… Hehehe…
- makeupdiva, based on my experience, avoid Garnier Pure and Neutrogena mask, they`re way too drying. Elemis has some good quality masks, I love them, simply fab and smell divine. But they`re not that widely available in OZ, mostly found at spas and online. Hyatt spas use them, so if you have Hyatt around you can try them. They`re not that expensive as you only have to use tiny bit, so the whole 75ml tube could last you about a year.

Thanks for your great advice.
I will try and buy a mask soon, as its getting warmer, the oilier my skin becomes. -

scentsation, I always thought people with oily skin don`t need anti-ageing product?
I`m with you, bluerose. My mum has super oily skin, she is 56 yr old, however her skin makes her look like she`s only 40, not much wrinkles and doesn`t use any anti-ageing product whatsoever as they`re too rich for her skin. She only uses eye cream and that`s it. I think her skin was prone to breakouts until she had her menopause then her skin behaves much better. I`m hoping to inherit her youthfulness… hehehe…
