Oily eyelids and eyeshadows

Hi guys!

I wonder if some of you lovely ladies have the same trouble as me. My skin tends to get very oily during the day (but is stubbornly dry in the mornings, grrr), and this seems to cause most of my eyeshadows to creep into the crease of my eyelid as the day goes on.

Some eyeshadows stay put well, but most in my arsenal go walkabout. Any tips for getting them to stay where I put ’em? I’ve tried putting eyeshadow over a powder base and have also given Benefit’s ‘Stay, Don’t Stray’ primer a go, but with not a whole lot of success…

ahh.. see, I have these beauty consultants in Hong Kong (SaSa to be exact, can’t tell which one, there’s like 5 in one area alone!) telling me that my skin is so dry it comes oily. So now I know, any ideas on how to find out?

Just a question, do any of you have heard that skin can be so dry it becomes oily?
I have that comment said to me numerous times but I am wondering if they are trying to con me, or they are telling the truth?
My eyelids are oily too, and I find that using pressed powder helps

No no its true, if you use really harsh or unsuitable products you can actually strip all the natural ‘good’ oils from your skin and it will then produce more oil to compensate, so that is why it is always good to know your skin type and use appropriate skin care products xxx

The Laura Mercier Eye Basics that Magda suggested on page 1 is awesome, so so effective (and my skin gets really oily in the heat) it really keeps my eyeshadow from budging and the best part is it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg 🙂

Thanks Mel, for some reason i tend to be drawn to your comments/opinions(This is a great site don’t you think?)

I love the Mirenesse eye primers, both the Sexy Secret and the Icon Sealer, they prepare my lids perfectly for my eye shadow.

Check out ebay for Too Faced prods, I got the shadow insurance for an absolute steal off there a lil while ago.

I also love Too Faced Shadow Insurance and it is always available at kit cosmetics.

I think mecca cosmetics stocks two faced shadow insurance, just look it up on the website 🙂

I think they do. Kit also stocks Too Faced 🙂

To my knowledge, only Mecca’s website stock Too Faced as it is normally a Kit brand but the owner of Mecca is part owner of Kit or something. Mecca stores don’t seem to have the Kit brands, or at least my local doesn’t.
