night contact lenses

Hey there bh gals
I live in sydney and i’m short sighted and roughly around -2. I was with some friends the other day and one of them wasn’t wearing her glasses. when i asked her why she said that she had got night contact lenses- the ones that mould your eyes into shape at night so the next morning you have perfect vision. Has anyone got a pair of these? Which optometrists stock them?

Wow my reply is going to be quite delayed.
Man that`s a tad more expensive than laser sugery! Though this sounds a bit safer lol
    I might consider this! thanks!

When you look/focus at something, it reflects at the back of your eye, called retina. With long-sighted eyes, their retina is quite close to their lens (the part just behind the pupil) that is why they see close things blurry.
As for short-sighted, their retina is further away from their lens that is why distant things are seen blurry for them (which I have)

So simply saying their eyeballs are not in shape lol

What your talking about is Orthokeratology right?

Well i was planning to get these aswell because my eyes are short sided but not too bad. I had an appointment with an optermtrist one day and he gave me a lot of information on it. This is a new technology so only specialised optomertrist can do these lenses.

Basically these lenses are supposed to flatten out this bit in your eye that causes the blurriness. These are also hard lesnes and not soft. All you do is leave them on overnight and take them out next morning. The optometrist said you have to wear them everynight for it to work fully.

A few of my friends have done this for a year or so and they have good results so far.

But the place i went to it was quite expensive. Something like $6000 for the process and $300 lenses that have to be replaced.

Hope i got the information correct and goodluck on making your choice. 😀

Hi, I know this is a very late reply, but I suggest visiting your optometrist. These mould things need to be specially made and shaped for your eyes. I don`t personally have them, but I have friends and a cousin who uses them and they really seem to work well for them.

@Hely: You put them in before you go to sleep and then sleep with them on. When you wake up you take them out.

How kule! No, I have never heard of this product so I couldn`t tell you where to get them.

So how exactly does it work? It moulds your eyes while you sleep? You don`t talke them out?
