Natural/Organic Skincare

Hi girls, I just found a great blog called The Mean Green Beauty Machine that has a lot of reviews and recommendations about natural skincare products. Thought I would share it with you if anyone’s interested:

I know there’s been a couple threads on organic skincare, but they’re a bit old so thought I’d start a new one 🙂 What organic/natural products are your favourites?
I’ve been loving Sukin products for awhile, have been using their foaming facial cleanser and moisturiser and my skin has been in really good condition. Thinking of trying their body moisturiser as well =)
Also on my wishlist are some MooGoo products which I think I might give in to buying soon.
Pure Innosense also look like they have some nice moisturisers, I know Elmo picked one up for a bargain 🙂 Can anyone tell me what they’re like?

Anyone use a dermaroller? I want to know what others people experience with it is. I read this article about it and it made me intrigued in it.

I buy a lot of products from Nourished Life but I think you really can`t go wrong with Swisse, such a good price and beautiful products.
I do als like Sanctum and Organic Spa which is a salon brand – from what I understand though it`s the same company that makes Sanctum.

Love Sukin and Swisse skin care and they are Australian made which is good as well.

Harmony Queen, I`ve been a customer of Flora and Fauna for a while. One reason that I shop there is because I can buy samples of some products, and if I like them, I can buy the products in full sizes. I would consider their prices to be reasonable. Recently, they introduced the brands Sukin and Botáni. I doubt that Flora and Fauna can compete with the prices of larger stores such as Priceline – especially Priceline`s 40% off sales. However, Flora and Fauna has a rewards scheme.

Yesterday I accidently came across this company ( Flora and Fauna )when browsing organics on Google. Has anyone has experienced with these items and are they cheaper than purchasing at our general stores ? All products are 100% vegan .

Is it just the Sukin foaming cleanser that contains PEG-150 or do other products in the range have it?

Squeeshed I used to have normal skin too – then out of nowhere, a few years ago, my skin decided it didn`t like SLS anymore – and now I can`t use any shower gel with SLS – otherwise I get little dry, flakey patches of skin on my arms and shoulders – mild case of dermatitis. I saw a doctor about it, and she said allergies can form just like that, and there`s nothing you can do about it – so if I were you – I would avoid these chemicals where you can – it can`t be good if your skin can suddenly start reacting like that?

Eskimo Bec – that is a very interesting blog. I always wondered if I should use SLS/paraben/random chemicals-fragances products. I do have normal skin, but I want to do whats best for my skin. Any thoughts, ladies?

Hi Eskimo Bec – A lot a people are under the misconception that all “”natural”” things are good for us, when some of the most harmful substances are derived from “”natural”” beginnings. eg arsenic and urine.
Urine is natural but we don`t consume this although some cosmetic companies use urine (urea) in their products.
Botulism is a rare and dangerous food poisoning, but this is what Botox is.
Talc is also a naturally occuring mineral but it is believed to cause cancer these are just a few.
    YUK!

Thanks for that BB, in the ingredients list for Sukin Foaming Cleanser it says PEG-150 Pentaerythrityl Tetrastearate and then vegetable in brackets, so slightly confusing!
