NAIL POLISH /Finger nails???

My finger nails grow quite long and are naturally strong. However, I find that wearing nail polish makes them more prone to breaking. I am a hand cream addict and can go weeks without any breakages, but if I wear nail polish longer for a day or two then they start snapping. Does anyone have any hints, tips to overcome this?

Yeah there are plenty of good brands around that are “safe” to use, look for products that are free of all 3 potentially harmful additives commonly found in nail polish: Formaldehyde, phthalates and toluene.

When you have naturally strong nails, using any “strengthening” type products will cause them to break. Make sure the products you are using are not “strengthening”.

Thanks! I’ll have a look into some of the more ingredient friendly brands. Its not a strength issue, actually seems the opposite where they become too hard and brittle. A polish that allows for better breathing and hydration is needed so I’ll look at the different brands.
    Thanks!

It is due to the ingredients in certain nail polishes, there are brands that are really good without all the harsh chemicals on board, I love Zoya best and find it just as good as my Essie, OPI, Orly, CND etc and with a huge range of shades 🙂 Also it pays to use a jojoba based cuticle oil at least two times a day and use hand cream constantly to keep the moisture in, dehydration is the biggest cause of nail damage, which is what the harsh chemicals cause.

Perhaps you could wear a strengthening base coat, to protect your nails from the polish, whilst keeping them strong?
I like the Orly ones. They have few to choose from, and they all work well as base coats :
