Nail Polish

Hi there,

I use my hands a lot, and don’t really bother with nail polish anymore because the moment I put it on within an hour it’s chipped/ruined.

Does anyone know of any nail polish that is stronger than usual, which can handle being hit on a keyboard and so forth?

OPI is one brand I keep hearing about, but never tried. From what I hear it sounds like a great brand – add to my growing wish list

I use top coats and base coats from Manicare and/or Sally Hansson. They seem to help the polish last for about a week with me, but then I remove it before it can chip. As for the actual colour, I use pharmacy store brands and am currently interested in trying OPI since everyone seems to say that it`s wonderful. 🙂

I just had another look at this thread – thanks for the welcome Hely! I`m still getting a hang of the forums but it seems like such a great site 🙂

OPI ids definantly a great brand that lasts for a long time, it is a bit expensive though, so if you dont want to spend $20 on one bottle of nailpolish try getting it from ebay, ive got quite a few from there for much cheaper. i also use cheap nailpolish from the $2 shop which lasts for a few days

Hey MellaBella. Welcome to the forums hun. =) Great advice!

I actually have used the Zoya nailpolish you mentioned. It was a gift from BH to me for purple status and it does last quite a while. I have no idea where to purchase it from though so I`ve only got the one.

I`m a huge fan of OPI too, I love the wide brushes and smooth application in addition to the fact it seems to last well. Apparently Zoya is a cheaper brand that is just as good and lasts even longer than OPI, I`ve only had a chance to use it once so far though so too soon to tell.

You could try a coat of OPI Chip Skip under the polish, make sure you apply a top coat, and reapply a top coat once every few days to help get the most from your manicure. Make sure there is no oil on your nails before applying the polish too, as that can increase chipping.

Make sure you don`t get polish on your cuticles as that can increase the risk of air bubbles getting trapped under the polish and increasing chipping, and when you apply the top coat, make sure you follow right through to the tips of the nail to `seal` the polish.

Also if you`re willing to go to a salon but don`t want acrylics, BioSculpture Gel manicures are applied to your own nails an apparently last quite a while without chipping or peeling…

There is also some new type of manicure thats almost like shrink-wrap for your nails, I forget the name, but it sounded a bit fiddly so I`d go with the other options for now!

Phew, sorry for the long post, hope that helps though 😛
