Moving To Darwin

My husband had a phone call the other for us to move back to Darwin. We lived there 5 years ago for 6 months for work . I got home sick bad so we came back to Perth and brought our house together. My husband has always wanted to go back. It is a beautiful place . I just missd my family lots.

He has been offered great opportunities. And we would be crazy not to take them. The move wouldnt be until Jan/Feb next year.
Im just a little nervous now because we have another little bub on the way for June next year?
But i suppose its only a plane trip away for my mum to come over!

    Hi Kylie85,

I had to move to Darwin with my family when I was 13 (now 22). I was petrified because I had this image of tumble weeds and desert. Obviously not the case. As you have lived there before, you know it`s not on the large scale and it is hard to adjust.

I just want to say, as I started my high school years in Darwin, I wouldn`t have it any other way! The classes were small, the teachers were nice, everyone got along. It is a great place for children to grow up. It is safer than larger cities and so much to see and do.

Our family lived in Brisbane and my Mum did get very homesick, especially for the 1st year but she just cherished the moments with her family so much more!

I know it seems daunting but you and the children will be fine! People are lovely, it is small so it is easy to get around and the beach is always just down the road.

Good luck and hang in there!

I wish I still lived in Darwin, but my partner doesn`t have many career opportunities in his line of work up there.

    Keep us posted xx

There a saying that “”sometimes you need to go out on a limb because thats where you`ll find the fruit is!”” Best of luck with whatever you & hubby decide, Just remember a plane trip to your mum`s or for her to your family isn`t too far away, and theres always telephones, email & old fashioned letter writing to help you stay in touch ♥

LOL BB I totally understand without a man around very often I have had to learn very quickly how to do everything for myself 🙂 Also btw even when there was a man around I learnt if you want something done then do it yourself, LOL.
Goo luck with your move Kylie, I would love to go to Darwin one day, it is not too far from here, just a bit expensive for such a short flight, nevermind I will definately get there one day 🙂

That`s tough, Kylie. I`m sure you and your hubby will make the right decision. : ) At least, Darwin is not too far away from Perth, so your Mum can come to visit.

BB, Great to hear your story. I`m glad you became a Jill of all trades, too. : ) I can`t imagine BH without all your useful info on ingredients. Thanks, hon. xox

    Hi Kylie85,

I had a similar circumstance but we moved from Vic to Kalgoorlie. My husband was fantastic and we really learnt so much about ourselves being on our own without family. I had a baby while we were there and my hubby had an older child. It can be difficult at times but you do learn to manage and you learn to do things that you never thought possible. My hubby also worked away from home so I quickly learnt to become a jack of all trades (a general miss fix it ha ha ha). I really grew as a person and have had people say to me that I wished we hadn`t gone. I would not change any of it as I learnt so much about myself and my hubby and I grew closer together.

    Good Luck whatever you decide

    Cheers
    BB
