Manual or chemical facial exfoliation?
I like to use both as I’m currently using Clinique’s Instant Turnaround Facial which has lots of little exfoliating beads but I’ve also just started using some NeoStrata creams/lotions to try and reduce the need for rough, manual exfoliation.
I have combo skin but get dry and flaking skin partly due to healing spots and partly due to my terrible skin, may be some dermatitis. The skin on the end of my nose peels like I’ve been sunburned, especially if I’ve been naughty and squeezed my large, clogged pores. I always have to scrub my face before putting on a heavier foundation or it just highlights the flakes and I am so over it.
What exfoliation method do you ladies prefer and what is your ultimate exfoliating product?

Stay C you could also look at the Alpha-H Liquid Gold mask (used to be called glycolic hydrating mask) – I also have this – and it lightly exfoliates with the gylcolic, which is also great for clearing skin too. I love using it! Though I can`t use it as much at the moment as I`m having lactic acid peels at my beauty salon.

For physical exfoliation, exfoliating cleansers just aren`t effective enough. I was use St Ives Apricot scrub as well as the invigorating cream one. I use a facial brush about 3 times a week now. I don`t use it daily because I find it`s too rough. I use my facial brush with a foaming gel, not the St Ives scrubs.I find it exfoliates better than both St Ives Scrubs. I bought my facial brush from The Body Shop as it was the cheapest I could find (only $4.95!!). Shiseido has a facial brush as well, it`s sooo much softer than the Body Shop`s!
Having said that, I definitely prefer a chemical exfoliation over a physical one. It`s more expensive but you get what you pay for. The results speak for themselves – my pores are unclogged and blackheads reduced! The chemical exfoliation process is just so much more thorough compared to a physical process. I`ve use MD Formulations Alpha-Beta Daily 2 step peel before and I find it also makes my skin glow. I should leave a review for it on bh… Anyway, you can buy a 30 day supply from Mecca Cosmetica for $130. You can also choose to use Mecca`s skinspace for $120, but it`s redeemable for products. I`m not sure but I think they go through skincare products that suit you or something similar anyway.

i`m using a biore exfoliator atm. it has those little beads in it (i think they`re made of some kind of wax) and also salicylic acid which also helps exfoliate and unblock pores. i find the scrub is too harsh to use everyday so on in between days i just use one of those little facial exfoliating buff things (i bought mine a priceline) just on my nose (where i get most of my problem blocked pores).
