Making your own powder eyeshadows – from pigments.

I’ve known about this for awhile now, but i came across this blog post about pressing pigments. It might be fun to try with NYX or MAC pigments 🙂 I think i’ll buy the empty eyeshadow pans from ebay though – ive got a few i might purchase that are in my watch list.

You can get rubbing alcohol from woolies. It’s a green bottle and is named isocol. In my woolies it’s on the shelves around the dettol. It’s also fantastic as a brush cleaner.

I never thought of Isocol as a brush cleaner! Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for posting! I have some MAC pigments I’d love to try this with. Has anyone pressed MAC pigments before? Do they work ok pressed?

I have a bottle of rubbing alcohol at home, I’m pretty sure we just bought it at the chemist

Yeah, i think that’s about the only place you can get it.

You can get rubbing alcohol at the pharmacy I believe. It used for treating like minor cuts. It’s like 91% alcohol i think, but im sure you can use alternatives. I saw one girl just used a few drops of water, but i don’t know if that would set the pigments though.

Here a video on how to do it:

WOW thank you for posting this Disco I have one of those MAC 15 empty palette’s and it’s looking a bit sad and lonely – was wondering how to fill it. I have loads of loose pigments, question though – rubbing alcohol??? ask for it at the chemist? have any other beauties done this? what did you use to bind the pigment? x
