Makeup for Dry Skin

Can anyone recommend a good foundation and/or primer for dry skin that doesn’t feel heavy? I’ve found that using cream foundation feels really heavy on my skin and it can sometimes clog up my pores, make me break out.

This is probably a silly question, but can I use power foundation at all if i have dry skin?

Thanks so much for all the advice ladies. I think I’ll go to priceline and try a few of these out on my skin.

I have sensitive dry skin and I use revlon colourstay, the dry skin formulation with great success, it never cakes or flakes and doesn’t stick to my dry skin, and a bottle lasts me forever 🙂

I’ve had the worst expernice with revlon colorstay 🙁 It was so orange and highlighted all my flakes, I went through a bottle in 3 weeks 🙁 Couldn’t stand the smell either! But it’s good to know that it has worked for somebody 🙂

I had this problem with an older formulation and the normal one, not the dry one. I bought a brand spanking new bottle a few weeks ago and it’s great, the last bottle i’d bought half price at a discount chemist… could’ve just been a dodgy batch 😉

Yes well it was about last year that I tried it and I spent a good $35 bucks on it, but as you said I probably just got one from the dodgy batch (knowing my luck!) I’m happy with the foundation I’m using now though and I prefer much lighter coverage then the colorstay one 🙂 Now I barely even wear foundation, just a bit of tinted moisturiser!

I have normal to dry skin and prefer liquid foundations. The Maybelline dream mousse is best for oily skin whereas the Maybelline dream liquid mousse foundation is better for dry skin.

I also use powder foundations in summer because I perspire too much and I have had no problems with them.

My skin is also dry but I found two foundations that work well and don’t accentuate any dry flakes. Bourjois Healthy Mix and Max Factor Experience. I also like to use cream blushers and highlighters for that dewy look. As far as primer goes I only use it on special occasions. Smashbox Photo Ready (clear one – silicone based) is my favorite so far.

I suffer really really bad dry skin (applying moisturiser 8 times a day wouldn’t even solve it) but I recommend using some natural skincare on your skin for a while, you’ll defs see an improvement in your skin and it will look much more radiant (my skin is now to the point that I can get away with wearing a light tinted moisturiser with minimal bronzer yay!!) but honestly the best foundation I’ve found for dry skin doesn’t come around cheap… Loreal Paris’s Studio Secrets HD smoothing foundation is seriously the best foundation I have EVER tried, it even makes your skin look less dry and dull which I love, in the end I think you are getting great value as it comes with a brush applicator, and it’s a foundation and luminizer in one. At $45 a bottle it’s not cheap, but it’s well worth it, and if you keep your eyes out for sales at priceline you’ll be able to score it for just under $35 bucks. I swear it seems as if they’ve just put a high end foundation into a loreal bottle, that’s how good it is.

I have really dry skin and I use a powder foundation everyday. Thing is, I use it over my primer and a sheer liquid or cream foundation.
The new Maybelline Mousse foundation looks really good and there is one for dry skin. That would probably be an affordable option too.

Thanks for your help. What products are you using now?
I’ve heard that the Maybelline Mousse goes on kind of oily and a few people have said it made them break out.

I have that foundation which I bought a couple of day because of advertisements and I have been trying to use it on my skin but it keeps accentuating my dry spots especially on the nose and on my forhead so I say that foundation isnt really good for dry skin 🙁 for me anyway !!
