Make Up Books?

Hi, I am really wanting your feedback on books about make up application. What’s good, what’s not worth investing in? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I’m looking for books more on basic tips with pictures preferably. My sis wants one and there are so many out there I might invest in one myself.

I know this is an old post but just wanted to let you know that Aussie makeup artist Rae Morris has just released a book on makeup techniques and its fantastic: I met Rae last year when she did makeup for a celeb we were using for an ambassador campaign, she gave me some tips then that were the best I ever heard (and I`m a makeup artist!) This one is well worth it. MAKEUP – THE ULTIMATE GUIDE $39.95 online at DYMOCKS ONLINE.

if you wanted to make your own book you could probably cut out articles from magazines and print out articles of interest from the BH site.

Have a look at your public library`s online catalogue (do a google search), to see what they have. You should be able to see what year it was published from here. If you are already a member you should be able to request it online, if not visit the library, membership is free. You can also make purchase requests to your library, or order it in from another Australian library (sometimes this incurrs a small fee). You can then scan/copy a couple of pages you find helpful and put them into your own book as pritty kitty said.

i find that making your own book is usually the best idea. get a blank notebook and put in it anything that you`re interested in. you cancut out articles from magazines, print webpages and write down notes or advice from others. i also find it`s nice to get pictures of looks you like and then experiment and write down your findings (so you don`t go back to it years later and forget that it just didn`t work on you!).

  • they are great books Linda. I can look at them over and over again. He was a great makeup artist.
