Laser Hair Removal

Hi beauties, I’m needing some advice on laser hair removal. I’m thinking of getting it done, but unsure about the side effects, results and prices. Anyone had it done that would like to share some advice??

Laser hair removal will definitely help you to get rid of your hair permanently. And there are no side effects of laser treatment if it is done through experience individual and with proper machine.

Laser hair removal is definiely the right choice if you want to get rid of your unwanted hair permanently. But keep in mind that the place where you are going for hair removal have experienced doctors, choosing right device and setting according to your skin type are also very important factors in the success of laser hair removal.

I love IPL it is very effective, you just have to get it done at the right place. IPL works best on darker hair and pale skin so I was the perfect candidate. I have had two sessions on my bikini and one of the great “side effects” is it gets rid of ingrowns!

$9 underarms? Wouldn’t touch it with a 10ft pole. The equipment is very expensive for salons to purchase and maintain, at this price I’d be concerned they’re using heads that have lost their power and it will be ineffective. The other problem is you hear some real horror stories about what can go wrong in some of these places. My first bikini IPL was about $150 and that was heavily discounted. The heads on their machines stopped working before they would run out of power so the first and last zap with that head were as powerful as each other, then they’d swap the heads over and send the old one back to be reconditioned in a sense.

Hi beauties, sorry if I sound like a n00b, but I just had my first laser done today, and not sure what happens next with aftercare. My techician told me to exfoliate (because I have terrible ingrowns hehe). Is there anything else I should do?
When can I start shaving again?

The area doesnt need much after care. Just protection from UV light. What happens is that the hair continues to grow though it does look a little mongy – as if it has been burnt and shriveled. After about a week it will just drop out which is why your therapist told you to exfoliate. If you pull on the hairs they just slide straight out of the follicle, completely pain free. I wouldn’t shave the area as it is easier to exfoliate the dead hairs off when they are longer – if you shave them the small dead hairs might get caught under the skin. Every hair should drop out after a week then you will start to see new growth after your first session around 3-4 weeks later. The regrowth takes longer and longer after each session. Once I’d had about 4 sessions on my underarms I found that even 8 weeks later there was only the odd hair left.

thanks beautystar. so when i get the regrowth 4 weeks later, am i all good to shave? or do i just have to bear being fuzzy till my next session?

have you had it done yet? if not, you have to shave it day before you have your appointment …. you will end up loving the results when its completed. The lady who does it for me she gave me laser hair removal protocols sheet!lol even thou, she explained it to me on my 1st session and every session after that.lol

BeautyStar007 – that sounds like a real good deal! It would be well worth it as shaving/waxing takes up so much time and the effects aren’t that great. I’d probably get the brazilian too (I’d be nervous though), would like my armpits as well but I’ve waxed them so often I don’t think it’s worth it.

Jannz, I thought the same thing about my underarms too but it’s so good now to not even have to think about shaving or waxing at all and just run out the door each day. Don’t be nervous! Yes, it does hurt, but if you focus on something else it’s not bad. It’s like getting flicked by a rubber band and the pain goes almost immediately after too. I’d recommend looking into it 🙂

I was following this thread and just checked the link/thread that ‘Beautystar’ had posted and there is a sale again at http://www.laserclinics.com.au/ $9 for armpits and $19 for bikini!?!? That’s UNBELIEVABLE!!! And there are soooo many locations in NSW … wish they had one here in QLD! 🙁
