My wooden box was a birthday pressie to myself a few years ago. I got in Myer but DJ, priceline and health food shops also stock it. Its an In Essence brand box that has divided compartments inside to store your bottles in. It works well for 9ml and slightly larger or smaller bottles so my big bottles eg jojoba, sweet almond (mainly carrier ones) I have in a shoe box next to it as are my spritz bottles as these are too big for my wooden box. Think it cost $50 years back with 2 or 3 oils included & i was lucky to get a GWP 🙂 I have still seen them in stores just slightly updated and not sure of the price. I think you can order the box alone too.
ohh thanks GM!! i will look around for that box 🙂

I have a wooden box that I keep in my bedroom and put all my oil bottles into that, haven’t had any problems. Great weblink Mel, it explains it well 🙂 Its important to remember too that some oils aren’t suitable for use while pregnant etc and some can make you more susceptible to sun damage so sunscreen is important. Ahh, love oils.
wooden box ey? where did u get it from GM? and yeah i am aware about certain oils that have to be avoided if you’re pregnant etc. thanks for more info!! i love my oil x

Yes its also good to remember that while oils are natural there are certain oils as well that can cause irritation to your skin, never use an oil straight on your skin (it must be diluted with a carrier oil) and if in doubt do a bit of research on the particular oil before using it to find out if it could possibly be a known irritant. Some examples are:
Cinnamon,
– Citronella,
– Clove,
– Eucalyptus,
– Ginger,
– Lemon Balm (Balm Mint),
– Tolu Balsam (Peru Balsam),
– Peppermint,
– Pine,
– Thyme
Here is a link I found with a list of oils and it gives you an excellent definition of why they could be potentially irritating. You need to scroll down the page a bit to the sub heading ‘The Oils’

i am not sure that i am confident enough to mix my stuffs around with essential oil. So how do u mix all these? do u mix it before u apply or do u mix this in another bottle??
Here is some info for you girls 🙂
Essential oils should not be used without being diluted; this can be harmful to your skin. There are several ways that you can dilute the essential oils before using them. If you’ll be massaging the oil into your skin use natural carrier oils. Among the most popular are sesame, jojoba, olive, peanut, grape seed, sweet almond and apricot.
All you’ll need is a small bottle (or several) to do the mixing in, and an eye dropper as well as a small funnel (not necessary, but helpful). The best mixing bottles will be of a dark coloured glass (helps preserve your blends). You start by filling each bottle up most of the way with carrier oils, then adding your essential oils drop by drop. Always be sure to leave enough space at the top to add your essential oils.
I found a website that has some awesome recipes for skin care and even cleaning products etc all using homemade essential oil recipes. It is heaps of fun if you like that kind of thing, I go mad for oils (which is why I try to avoid New Directions, haha, last time I went overboard on my order, lol) It is great mixing up your own brews and you just never know you might find the perfect natural solution that works for you, which will save you heaps of $$ in the long run 🙂 Each recipe includes the amount of drops of each essential oil you need and the amount of carrier oil you mix it in. Their are also recipes that are for adding to base skin care products, such as unscented lotion etc, you can find this stuff at New Directions or many places that sell oils 🙂
http://www.natural-skin-care-info.com/essential-oil.htmloh wow!!thanks for the great info mel!! i will try these out, sounds good to me! another thing, how do u guys keep your jojoba oil? in fridge or in the drawer as long as its cool, dark place? i found that keeping it in the fridge solidify it therefore has to wait for it to become liquid state again by leaving it few hours before i use it, which is pretty silly!
I just leave mine in my bedroom cupboard in the dark, don’t leave it in the bathroom though coz the humidity could get to it there. I am positive it would solidify in the fridge?? My coconut oil does it sometimes and it is not even in the fridge, haha
