is it all in my head or … ?

ok, im not sure if there are already threads on this but its been driving me crazy .
just last week i replaced my blowdrying hair brush ..you know the big round one . only thing is i couldnt get another one like i had originaly , so i had to buy a new kind. i brought the closes match to my old one possible.
i knew i wouldnt use it unless i chucked my old hair brush away into the bin (which i did ) and low and behold the new brush is terrible. i hate my hair now .
It seems like i cant achieve the same look my old brush could. no matter what i try . i cant get the height at the roots like i used to before and the brushes were the same size , so that cant be the problem .
not to mention i just feel backwards using it !
i want my old brush back 🙁 lol but its too late now .
so my question is .. how often do you replace your ‘tools’ , combs brushes for your hair etc.
i knew i had to replace mine because i had it for years !
i know thats bad because the bristles get damaged and in turn so does your hair , but i was so in love with my old brush . !!

I have had so much trouble over the years trying to find a brush that works… I might try the Mason Pearson brand you`re recommending, but could anyone suggest something good but budget-oriented? With a new baby I`m trying to be really good about not spending much on myself.

oh poor you i hate it when you have a great brush and loose it! i have a big round blowdrying brush, a square one and a few combs( one red massive one). i usually replace my square brush about 1 every 3 years, because apart from the fact that i loose them often i like trying new ones. however i`ve had the same round brush for ages! may i suggest emj that you make sure you know the brand of brush you buy so you can know where to get it from and what brand it is. though like elmo said shes had a brush for ages, so if youve had that brush and it isnt in stock anymore i guess what i just said is no use! oh well. and i generally dont clean out my combs at all, coz i just wash themn and its all good.
