Ingrown toenail ouch!!

Hi Ladies,
My big toe toenail was growing back in on itself and on the weekend I actually cut half the nail back straight down the middle. Does anyone have any tips on how to avoid this recurring?

Oh my goodness that looks so terrible Beautalicious! I’m glad you’re fixed now though. I’m so grateful I haven’t suffered from ingrown toenails, I never knew they could be so bad…

WARNING this is a gross image…
Here was my toe before I had the mini operation on my toe it isn’t pretty. This was a normal day, I don’t have a photo on a bad day.

hi Beautalicious i had the same thing done to one of my big toes quite some time ago.Now it looks pretty normal just slightly smaller than the other toe. But if you are having ingrown toe nails to the degree where they are sheer hell and weepy and disgusting this little surgery is absolutely worth it!!!!

I wear polish on my tootsies and no one has a clue that i’ve had part of the nail removed. I joke that I’ve thinned my toes to fit into tight heels (hehe). But yes this little surgery for painless toes is well worth it. I’m glad to hear other happy stories =)

I would be really interested to see the results of your surgeries Beautalicious when you have the time. My toenail has started to grow back fairly normal at this stage, but it would be good to see the results of some other options. Thanks for your input.

Sure, Jenniqua. I have photos on my home computer and I can show what they looked like before and after.
I have had ingrown toe nails since I was 12. And my first podiatrist just cut them short and I would feel better for about 6 weeks until they grew back.
Then early last year I went to another podiatrist who made a mess of my toes, which is when I couldn’t walk. Then got referred to an amazing podiatrist who offered this surgery that I had never heard of. So happy with the results but dissapointed to never have been offered this before.

I have had surgery on both my big toes, because I had ingrown toe nails for years. I have had 1/3 of each nail permanently removed because they would weep everyday and were pure pain.
    WARNING GROSS DESCRITION BELOW

Basically my podiatrist had to numb the toe with needles and cut out the nail and after that had to place skewers dipped in antiseptic into the space for 15 seconds each to stop the nail growing back. But you don’t feel any of that because your toe is numb.
Since then I have had no pain and my toes look kind of normal. I will post pictures of before and after so you can see the difference. It’s so nice to wear heels and not have sore toes.
