Importance of Toners?
Hi beauties,
I know this must be basic knowledge to you beauties but I do need your advice.
I’ve been reading up on good skincare regime and I noticed that many mentioned toners. I think I have relatively good skin but have never thought about using toners.
So what is the use of toners? Would you recommend it?
Thanks beauties!

I have stopped using a toner at present, as I feel they are alwasy too severe for my skin. A lot of them have alcohol in them which just seems too acute for my skin.

I actually just read a beauty article regarding toner and it stated that toner use is just personal preference, it said that toners can actually strip your face and if you have dry skin, it can actually leave your facial skin feeling very tight. It said that if you do feel the need to use a toner to choose one that is simple, natural with PH balance. They said that you would probably be better off doing a double-cleanse with a suitable cleanser.

I am heavily into skin care regime & for years used a toner with AHA in it thinking I was removing the dead skin build up from over night. My beauty therapist friend informed me I was actually stripping away my natural oils every day. Yikes!
For the past three months I have been using a totally different toner in an entirely different way and my skin is absoultely loving it!
I have been using ‘Comfort Lotion’ by Lendan skin care. It’s the most amazing toner I have ever used. I pump it into my hands and apply it like a serum! (I know this is wierd for a toner) Within seconds it absorbs and I feel moistured. So in short I am a massive fan of all things skin care & currently this toner aswell.

Sorry melmeko do you mean people wouldn’t be so silly to buy a toner with alcohol in it?
The reason why I said that is because a good 60% of the toners that are sold in my priceline store have alcohol in them so a huge amount of people are actually unaware of denatured alcohol or just aren’t sure what to look for.
Definitely agree with you that toner doesn’t work for everyone.I guess I shouldn’t have said that in the heat of the moment, I agree many people wouldn’t have any idea and unfortunately it is a shame that only those who are a bit more up to speed with the effects of these drying ingredients actually know to avoid them 🙁

i use the garnier pure toner, dabbed on with a cotton ball always at night before i sleep. you can see the dirt that comes off your face, even after cleansing and washing face.
ive heard of really good reviews for the witch hazel, it seems gentle and produces smooth skin. but id definitely use toner. alcohol toners are to harsh on skin, sometimes it feels like its stinging or burning if theres alcohol in it.
maybe try the witch hazel? -

Thanks for the info Melmeko! I never really understood why using a toner was so important…I found a basic Nivea Refreshing one at Chemist Warehouse to try with my Cetaphil skincare routine, will let you know if it helps to clear up my acne!
