I need to sell my skincare products

Hi everyone, I read heaps of good reviews about Skinceuticals and decided to purchase the Advanced Brightening System which is $496.50 RRP thinking it would have to be really great for that price! unfortunately after 9 days of use I hated it because it made me break out as I have oily skin, and now I can’t return it. I feel like I wasted so much money and its only been used twice a day for 9 days. It does not even look used.

The Advanced Brightening System includes:
1 x Phloretin CF (30 ml)
1 x Pigment Regulator (30 ml)
1 x Retinol 0.5 (30 ml)
1 x Retexturing Activator (30 ml)
1 x Ultimate UV Defense SPF 30 (90 ml)
Total Value is $668.95 according to website

Any suggestions on how to sell it? Do people even buy used skincare products? Im so upset

People react to products differently so just beacause you do not get peeling from the Retinol serum does not mean it is not working. You may also find that perhaps you have not used it long enough.

It definitely is working, after having used it for so long now, I am really impressed with the benefits it has on my skin, I doubt I will ever stop using it now, otherwise my skin will just end up reverting back to what it was like pre-retinol days, eek 😉

I have been using retinol for years, its best to start off with the lower strengths such as 0.25 and then work up to 0.5 and then finally 1.0% I found that by doing this I didn’t get the peeling that some people get when they first start using the retinol, by working my way up to the appropriate strength my skin had the chance to get use to the product, hence no peeling 🙂 Even last year when I started on prescription strength retinol I still had no peeling 🙂 I never have had stinging or burning ever with Vitamin A products, Vitamin C yes but definitely not with A??

From my own experiences, retinol products don’t tingle on contact with skin. I only really feel the difference about 2 days later – when the skin starts peeling.

Skinceuticals 0.5% Retinol has a very strong chemical smell and glides easily onto the skin with a silicone texture.

When your skin does peel, use a cloth to remove the flakies, it’s the easiest and most gentle way. A facial scrub could make your skin more red and not necessarily remove all the flakes.

Thanks for the advice on skin purging girls. I think this time i will re-buy the retinol from a trusted Australian seller. I haven’t had any problems with activeskin.com. Im assuming the retinol I currently have is dodgey because when I apply it I dont feel any burning, or tingling of the skin like most new exfoliating products.

Wow sounds like your product is actually faulty, so glad you are getting a refund. Some great advice here though to keep in mind when you start on something else, good luck and hope you find something that you like and works well 🙂

Sounds like a case of purging. The Retinol 0.5% will definitely cause initial breakouts and peeling of the skin.

I hope you can get a refund but next time do plenty of research before shelling out big bucks for a skincare system.

http://www.makeupalley.com is a great website for product reviews – people go into great detail about the results (good and bad) as well as physical descriptions of the products. Reading about other people’s experiences will definitely help you form realistic expectations about new products.

Hope this helps and good luck.

It doesn’t sound real good Sarahly. I know quite a few people on Beautyheaven have purchased through Strawberrynet and have said they’re fine but I don’t know. The whole site looks dodgy, it looks cheap and thrown together, so it always makes me change my mind on buying anything from there. At least you’re getting a refund. Sorry to hear the problems though.

I bought the set off strawberry net, so didnt pay full rrp but it was over 300 bucks. After posting on here I decided to try the products again, and was freaked when I pumped the Pigment Regulator and the serum came out brown! It was originally orange when I first used it. So I took photos and called them 3 times (because they have been ignoring my emails) and they are now sending a refund. But it will still take 2 weeks to get my money back. Has anyone had this problem before? I think I got dodgey products now! no way Id swap or sell them to anyone

LOL thanks BQ I am very passionate about these issues 🙂
You definitely need to use a product for lots longer than a few days, every new brand, especially active cosmecutical skin care products will cause purging which can include breakouts while your skin adjusts to the new product. For that price I would be giving it a proper test drive, and the same for any new skin care product where you cant expect to see actual visible signs of improvement for at least a couple of months. I hope this helps a bit darl, I wouldn’t lose hope yet, you could try 10 products and they will all do the same thing as your skin needs to get use to the new ingredients, this actually means the product is working and it is a good thing not a bad thing. I hope you will reconsider and use it for an appropriate time and then make the choice if you want to continue with it or not. Any skin care professional will agree a few days is not enough, unless of course you were to suffer a sever skin irritation/reation, which generally you will discover when doing the initial patch test. Let us know your thoughts 🙂

You know I’ve given up on a ton of products that maybe I wouldn’t have if I’d known about this purging thing! To be honest, I’d always want to keep giving them a chance, just in case it was just a coincidence that I was breaking out at the same time I started a new product (lol) but my mum would always talk me into stopping using it. Because I have always had sensitive skin, I guess she thinks that if I’m breaking out I’m using something that doesn’t agree with me.

I always thought that as well, having sensitive skin, but since having the opportunity to learn so much from a friend who is a qualified skin care therapist I now always stick to new products for at least a few months before I decide, especially since I have oily skin as well, which always gets really greasy when I start anything new, which in turn causes congestion and breakouts, but if I give it a chance 9 times out of 10 it ends up balancing itself out in just a few weeks when my skin gets use to it and I have no problems at all 🙂
