How to overcome dentist visits

From the moment I make a dentist appointment my stress levels escalate. I am not a stressful person, I understand the issue behind this and find it over whelming to the point of nausea.
My dentist and team use many techniques to distract me I always end up in tears and thats before I hit the chair.

Any advice is good advice please help me overcome this long time problem. The funny thing is I am the one usually providing advice to others and whilst I can happily recommend a solution struggle to take my own advice lol…….

I`m ok for regular check-ups, as long as there`s no work needs to be done. It`s the needles I`m scared of the most. Find a nice, good, and patient dentist you feel comfortable with, and stick to him/her. Mine is gentle, funny and patient, he won`t do anything to my teeth until I`m totally feeling ready… some dentists are horrible and they make matters worse by being stern, unfriendly, and impatient.

i hear you, i`m no fan of the dentist. i actually started root canal treatment 4 weeks ago. i was supposed to go back 2 weeks ago and never did…..i need to call tomorrow and make an appointment.
Noone likes the dentist, but honestly if you don`t go then your teeth rot and you`ll end up with more problems, more pain and more dentist visits. Without sounding harsh-whats the worst that can happen? You are in safe hands….
the thing is, you need to find a dentist that is totlally understanding of your situation. I am like you-i get scared etc. But i found an excellent dentist and since then i am so much better. It really has made a difference to my approach.
