How long is your daily commute to work?

I was reading an article recently saying that the average commute to work for Australians was 25 minutes and that less than 10% of Australians work in their own suburb.

I work three jobs (one full-time and two part-time) and for my full-time job it takes me about an hour and fifteen minutes to get to work. I wake up at about 5:45 and have left by 7:10 at the very latest. I’ll get to work by 8:30 and will work until 5.00. I need to wait until 5:40 for my train then I’ll get home at about 7.00.

I thought it was an interesting topic and was curious to know how long it takes you to get to work and wether you travel by bus/train/car/etc.

My commute to work is 20 minutes and I drive.
My work is on a major highway and there is no public transport for 5km either way nor adaquete cycling tracks.
I used to live 45 minutes away and that drove me crazy especially because it was always heavily congested.

I live 1km from work-takes 15-20 min to walk. 10min in a bus. 5min in a car if my gorgeous bf drops me off (rare as I start at 7am or 130pm!)
My shortest commute was up 12 stairs-I was a live in nanny and had the basement flat when I lived in London. Lush!
Commuting is awful-did a few shifts at another hospital when I first moved to Sydney and it was 15min walk, 2 trains, 5min walk. Took 40min but felt sooo much longer.
Very lucky to have the best hospital in Sydney in such a great place and was able to buy an apartment nearby in gorgeous Elizabeth Bay .
My aunt commutes from Katoomba to Paddington for work 4 days a week-3hours each way. Ugh.

It takes me anywhere between half an hour & an hour, depending on Traffic & buses. I have a 2 bus commute :/ but it is better than having to drive through the city which would stress me out too much

I’m at uni and it takes me forever to get there. If I have a 9am start, I need to leave home at 7am…it’s even worse when you have a late class and get home so late you don’t feel like doing anything else lol.

I know the feeling. I used to finish after 8pm 2 nights a week last semester. Just dont want to even think about doing anything by the time you get home!

Atm I’m still job searching. But my current casual job takes anywhere between 30mins to just over an hour.. depending on traffic – even when i catch a bus, the main road can get very clogged some days…. but once i get on the busway its a breeze

When I was at uni I was travelling an average of 3 hours a day if the trains were running well: ie on my way there 15min walk+50min train + 10 min to get to the tram stop +10min for the tram and 5min to walk to the building I needed to get to.
Now if I drive to work (night shift only) it takes 45-50 min to get there and 25min to get home. But since it is not my car and it is a petrol guzzler I use public transport for day shifts which almost takes 2hrs to get to work and 1.5hrs to get home, which includes using the train and 2 buses.

No time at all, I work from home.

5 minutes! I live on the same street as my workplace, but it’s a long hilly street. I could walk it if I wasn’t carrying so much and didn’t mind getting all sweaty before working with a lot of people.

I’ve had commutes up to 40 minutes and hated it. It seems so wasteful to me in terms of time and petrol, but I have nothing against those that choose to or have to do it. I’m lucky that my job is not based in the CBD but I understand that many love the peace and quiet and room to move of living away from work etc.

it takes me about 15-20 mins by bus to get to work and uni as work and uni are in the same suburb. By car it would be the same amount of time because there is the bus lane on my main road. The bus stop is a 2 minute walk from my home

A one way trip takes me about 45 minutes to an hour to uni depending on what time I decide to go, frequency of public transport etc. But I usually catch the train and bus during peak hour so that takes about 1hr, but if I miss one then that’s an extra 10 mins.
