    Hi beauties,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It seems that some pre-trialed product “reviews” have slipped through the cracks of our approval system, but we’re going through the system as we speak to get rid of them.

LOL Deb love it, hehe, “pre-trialed” reviews that is a great way to put it, haha

Good reviews are helpful reviews and I strongly believe in quality over quantity.

For skincare, I like it when the reviewer reveals their skin type and for make-up, I want to know the reviewer’s complexion, eye colour etc.

One thing that annoys me on MakeUpAlley is that so many reviewers lower product ratings based on price. I don’t care how much it costs, I just want to know if the product performs.

Here at BH I appreciate good punctuation and paragraphs.

I really must tupe my reviews first they often have typos – d’oh!
I’m very honest with reviews and try to describe my experience to the best of my ability. Also I think it’s important to give a product more than one use before jumping off to review

I agree that honesty is the best policy! Good advice to give a product more than one try too. Sometimes I can be all enamored with a shiny new item in my bathroom that I have quite a biased view of it from the first try, the bias doesn’t hang around long usually and I’m seeing it warts and all in no time.

That is really weird. Why would you write a review about a product you obviously haven’t used? I’ve also seen some one line reviews that don’t really say anything about the product.

A review is obviously a review of something you have used right??
    Wrong…..apparently.
I was shocked just now when I clicked on the Aveeno Positively Radiant Moisturiser that is the first product under 10 of the best, only to discover one of the first reviews was titled
    think i need this
Then I read the review which said:
i have been looking for a good product to help with my uneven skin tone and pigmentation and by what i have read and by what i have read i think this could be the one for me.
    Tips
It says that its great for blotchy uneven skin tone and the price looks like its right also.
    Ieal for
So thankz for the reviews and helping me pick this product.

How did this pass through the system and wonder how many other people are fast tracking to turquoise by reviewing products they have not even used????????????

I have seen quite a few of these “reviews” some just saying i need to try this! which kind of sucks for the people who actually take time writing reviews. i guess there is always going to be people who cheat every where you go which is quite a shame.

I can’t stand the one liner reviews!! It defeats the whole purpose and clearly shows this is just someone trying to gain points!
I took a loooong time to get to Turqouoise, I think somewhere between 1.5-2 years as I only review things as I use them and make an effort to write something that will actually help others
The well written reviews are what I look to before parting with my cash and delving into a beauty purchase ‘blind’ and not knowing how/if the product will work.

I try and put as much detail as possible and use the product quite a number of times before i review so you can be as honest and detailed as possible (:

Nice advise, breathesarah, hope you have enjoyed BH so far, many new members don’t know much about reviewing and are pretty keen to get through to the turquoise level so the reviews are just a line or two, but after being a member here for a while and reading other peoples reviews you really learn so much and put so much more into it. Especially after you have reached turquoise and points etc mean nothing, you are here because you love it and that normally reflects in your reviews. Look forward to checking out your first review 🙂
