holiday review – warning looong!
hi guys hope eveyone had a good 2 weeks while i was gone.
i got back on monday, and was going to stick this in the chatting thread but it got too long!
so we visited the ports of noumea – (new caledonia), lifou – ( loyalty islands), mystery island
-( vanautu), suva – (fiji), port denaru (fiji) and savusavu (fiji).
my absolute favourite is mystery island ( 2nd time there) which is just simply a little island you can walk around in 45 mins it has the most beautiful white crushed coral beaches, with crystal blue water and amazing snorkeling. no one lives there and the locals canoe across from the nearest main island to set up markets on cruise days.
least fav, noumea, its dirty, smelly, expensive and the locals are unfreindly, but we already knew that so we spent the day on a little tourist train visiting all the out of town places which were surprisingly nice. the kids loved the train ride.
suva was having an annual festival and we spent the day doing a tour about an hour out of town at their arts village, where i had pre-organised a minibus for 16 of us on the same cruise who wanted to goto the same place and a guide for the day at the arts village, there was a traditional show that went for around an hour incl firewalking. then they gave us lunch cooked in the traditional sand pits in the ground like a mauri hungi. then there was a boat trip around their lagoon stopping at huts along the way, where they explained different parts of the traditional fijian life and a visit to some traditonal houses and a kava ceremony. brilliant day! and BTW girls … the abs glistening with sweat on the fijian boys poleing the boat and in the shows, were to die for! 😉 not that i was looking…..
in port denaru, we caught a cab to the sofitel and wandered in looking like guests and helped oursleves to their pool and waterslide and beach for the day!
vila was duty free shopping day…. will post the complete sinful list in the shopaholic thread 🙂 warning it is a looong list.
the ship, is beautifull with something happening all the time, the weather was great untill we were one day out of sydney on the way back and it was very smooth sailing.
staff were great, shows were fab, food…OMG sinful, there was so much of it, and everymeal breakfast, lunch and dinner came complete with dessert! oh oh theres an extra 3.5 kgs on the scales now!
there were theme nights with there being country and western night, island night, rock and roll night, rock night, and pirates of the pacific night with staff and guests getting dressed up and themed parties happening, Holly was the hit of island night in her grass skirts and she makes a few appearances on the dvd they produced of the cruise!
and formal nights to get dolled up on.
holly made a little boyfriend about the same age and they danced the evenings away on the stage in the main showlounge while waiting for the shows to start, usually with a round of applause on finishing.
kids clubs are amazing and really well decked out and organised with activities for all the ages groups. they had playstation 3’s, basketball hoops, playmazes, juke boxes, crafts, movie times. and babysitting there till 10:30 pm for no extra charge. holly was underage for the kids club so she had to stick with us but aden took full advantage of turtle cove kids club.
had a great time, but its always good to be back, i very nearly ran upstairs and kissed my skincare & make up, then i threw open the cupboard and said hello to all my favourite shoes individually, then opened the other wardrobe and let my clothes know i was home!
thats enough for now i think…. 🙂
when i get the internet back on my laptop (currently using hubbys work one) i will attempt to go through and make some videos fro my youtube channel and some photos onto facebook.
