Hit me with…..

Your best “chill out” vitamin blends. I’ve seen some in the shops claiming to help keep you relaxed (not help sleeping so not valerian or anything like that), has anyone tried any with any success? with the wedding getting closer, starting to be a major stress head!

(P.S. if anyone knows anything bout medicine, pref. stuff that won’t interact with psychiatric meds, for example st johns wort)

I’m also on an anti-depressant so have to be really careful what supplements and natural medicines I take as some do react badly with those meds. There is a tablet you can buy over the counter at pharmacies called Phenergan. It’s a multi-use product. And it doesn’t react with any of my multitude of meds. It can be used as a calmative, an anti-histamine, anti-nausea tablet, aids migraines and great for helping to go to sleep. It’s also non addictive.

Are you on a specific med ? Id be happy to check it out in my lovely big book of interactions if you’d like (if you know the name).
Flower essence are very safe to use in most instances, just remember they are mixed with a blend of brandy & water as a preservative. Avoid if you have alcohol sensitivities, or ask your natural health practitioner to make one up alcohol free!

Hi guys, i love when someone posts health questions!

If you want to use essential oils for relaxation, it can quite simply be just one you like, not a specifiic one.. i am not an aromatherapist but this is just some general info i have been passed down, lavendar is usually a goody!

Rescue Remedy – While it is a great flower essence option for actue stress, it is quite a strong blend for more of an “acute attack” and can lose effectiveness when taken very often.
For an alternative Aussie Bush Flower essence have a blend called Calm and Clear which has some goodies in designed for everyday stress. I love this essence and it has helped me. I also love being able to create an individualised essence for a specific type of stress… you can ask your naturopath about these (or come see me 🙂 )

When we are stressed, we quite often use up our B vitamins and Magnesium which cause fatigue, poor sleep and other stress realted symptoms.
A supplement can be a good choice, or load up on fresh veggies (esp mushies!) and whole grains for a B/Mg hit.

Ask me if you want to know more!

I like to just have a me day when I start to feel stressed…Just ignore everyone (nicely) and relax..

I will soak in a bubble bath with a book, or just lie down with a relaxing album on an ipod….

    Hello.
I read this just so fast, I know the item that she talks about. It is all over in asia, smells strong and used to help feeling sick. Small clear bottle with a sticker showing a flower usually.

When I like to relax I do 2 things the most.
One is a long hot bath to just close eyes and think nic,e things. Opens the skin pores also.
Then send I use a face scrub wash and when rinse, keep massaging the skin for 2 minute extra it makes me relax before drying the face

I’ve got a lavender and ylang-ylang body moisturiser that I bought from a spa in the Philippines. It’s so beautiful to wear. I usually apply it at night before bed or when I’m stressed.
I inhale the scent too, soooo wonderful and helps me to relax before bed.

sounds really interesting! Any australian alternatives which we can buy over here??=]] x

    Yay the phils!!!! lol.
    i have another option -i cant say that its aussie, but another choice, that i know cant be hard to get here (but i have a giant supply from asia anyway) its a a chinese option, so i know some of u other will know of it – using the strong oil that is sort of a cure-all – for headaches, pains, calming down, falling asleep;
The translation in english is “white flower oil”
if you type that into google you will get a a hit of all the bottles, and looks , etc. prob avaialvlbe in chinatown type places

I HIGHLY recommend it, for feeling at peace. its kind of just like tiger balm in several ways also but i prefer this, and i often dab a spot on each of my temples… and anything hassles – problem solved. but i mix it with some nice soothing light, music etc.

Thanks for the product info, have not heard of it before. Will google it and check it out. x

I use a lot of aromatherapy, you can buy calming blends of essential oils, they’ll fill your space with a sense of calm. I also love to dab Lavendar on my pressure points, it does work. It’s really handy too at bed time, if you’re having trouble sleeping, just buy a Lavendar spritz and spray all the bed linen and pillows before going to bed. It really relaxes me ready for bed and I find I fall to sleep quicker, instead of tossing and turning for hours.
