Help Itchy driving my insane, inflamed skin.
Ok here’s my story ladies, I have noticed this for sometime but never have really come up with a solution that works straight away. I find that after wearing clothing that is too tight on my skin I tend to get really itchy skin that drives me nuts and I often tend to scratch it so much it ends up hurting and becoming inflamed. I sometimes try everything and anything to try and stop it itching but normally creams etc are just offering me temporary relief and it takes nearly 24 hours or more to get back to normal. I find this usually happens when I wear jeans, or sometimes it is just like in the waistline, or braline areas etc that flares up, at the moment it is my legs from wearing tight stretch jeans for about 16 hours yesterday. Anyway long winded I know but does anyone else get this and what do you use to stop your skin becomming itchy and causing you to scratch it so it gets worse?

I`ve had itchy eczema and dry skin forever, and I`ve got it under control now with antihistemines (Fexofenidine, aka Telfast 180) to control the itching sensations, and Paupau ointment for healing the skin, Designer Brands has one that`s Paupau and Manuka Honey that is AMAZING, and has a high percentage of paupau unlike other brands that fill it out with Shea butter and other things.
Using anything really strong will make it worse, I was recommended Vitamin E to heal but it just inflamed the skin.
General tips, try stick to predominantly cotton fibres, and I wash my clothes in tea tree oil. I mean, if your clothes aren`t “”dirty”” and just need refreshing, then you don`t need anything strong! And tea tree is antibacterial too.
This is the only routine that works for me from trial and error, doctors were always unhelpful and just prescribed steroid creams that were useless. Give this a try!

If this is a persistent problem that you can`t get any relief for I would recommend visiting your GP or pharmacist for some advice on medications or products that could ease the problem, also they can diagnose what`s actually going on.
I`d recommend everything else everyone is saying, checking food allergies; changing detergents, soaps, moisturisers and beauty products.
If the skin is cracked and very painful I`d recommend buying some Vitamin E capsules and piercing one, and using the oil to massage into the skin. Vitamin E oil is very soothing for the skin and won`t cause ANY reaction, you can use it everywhere (including face and lips!!)
Hope you have resolved your problem 🙂 xo

Hi Hayley, have you tried the MooGoo products? They have some creams suitable for skin conditions. You could also try Hope`s Relief and Graham`s Natural Alternatives from the health food store. MooGoo Scalp Cream was the best for calming my itchy scalp – better than Hope`s Relief and Graham`s products – and now I`m using it on my skin.
I have all sorts of skin conditions and I`ve tried so many products. I had success with using hypericum oil and calendula oil. I get mine from a naturopath, but you can get them from health food stores. While I don`t find these two oils will calm the itching, they are really gentle and soothing.
You could try mixing a few drops of essential oil such as tea tree or lavender with a carrier oil. However, some people find these essential oils to be an irritant. Use these with caution if you`re very sensitive.
You didn`t say whether your skin condition came on suddenly, or whether you`ve had it for a long time. If it has come on suddenly, it could be caused from something as simple as a new washing detergent.
If you`ve had the allergy for a long time, you could try to find the cause by eliminating everything in your diet and environment, then slowly reintroducing each possible allergen. Sometimes you need to do this with a health practitioner if its a complex allergy. You need to be very dedicated to go down this road.
