Help for dying already coloured hair.

I’ve been using semi colours in my hair for a while now as the permanents I was using were leaving too much heavy colour build-up. I need some colour advice when it comes to my roots as I have naturally dark brown hair and when I dye it a dark colour there’s no problem but when I go a bit lighter or use reds it tends to really take to my regrowth while the rest is much darker. How do I keep it all the same shade when I’m trying to change the colour to a reddish shade?

I was really happy with the Garnier mel but I wanted to use a reddish colour this time and also wanted better grey coverage so a permanent was the best option. It’s almost dry so I’ll take a picture and post it soon.

I have never seen the maybelline one, give us a piccy of the schwarzkopf one Stace when you have done it, I have had no luck whatsoever with schwarzkoph ones in the past, I have used that one I think, looks familiar, and I still have a bottle of the little conditioner that comes with it in my bathroom, lol. I found it had dreadful staying power, the best one I have used I think when it comes to permanents is definately the Loreal Excellence Creme, this one http://www.beautyheaven.com.au/products/7266-Excellence-Creme-with-Pro-Keratin. I was hoping the Garnier might be worth trying but your experience with it doesn’t sound too good, so I might be best to stick with what I know works, lol 🙂

I usually dye my already dyed hair, it blends well depending on which products your use. I like maybelline, L’oreal and schwarzkopf. I wouldnt recommend garnier because gradually the colour changes its shades. Eg, I got brunette chestnut and after about 2 to 3 months it came out dark maghoney…(did I spell it right lol)
    Goodluck with it though

OK this time I’m going with a permanent as the semis fade too quickly from the lovely little strands of grey scattered at my temple and hairline. I’m using Schwarzkopf Brilliance #49 Dark Red Violet.

My hair is pretty short and a bit choppy so doing the second colour isn’t too big a problem as long as I keep it random.

Definitely requires skill using the Colour Expert which is why I chickened out and opted to get it done! But the colour is so so lovely!
