Headache Remedies
Does anyone have any good natural remedies for headache relief? I don’t get them as much as I used to, but lately I’m getting them more often again (I went off the Pill 2 months ago so maybe that’s contributing), and I usually take Panadol or Advil which help, but I really don’t like taking tablets for things if I can avoid it. Any magic cures would be good! 😉 Thanks

sounds like it. perhaps you could try spearmint instead of peppermint. there are loads of oils you could try and i often find burning them as effective or putting a couple of drops on your pillow.
if the headache is really bad you can do cold compresses with just a cold face cloth and a few drops of lavender, place over your face and press in whilst inhaling. do that 3 – 5 times then do one last dip and wring then place the washer over your eyes and lay down. -

Eles – I will check with my Dr about those amounts next time I go – thanks for the information 🙂 I`m sure it would be alright to take those amounts, but I do have a few stupid health issues that might get in the way.
B.O. & Princess – I have used a headache balm & a sleep balm, from the brand Sohum – they were quite good, but I got an irritation from them anyway – my temples go bright red and feel really hot. I think my skin is just too sensitive

balms are good because they can be made in much higher concentrations without the irritation (generally) that can occur otherwise.
if you apply the balm to your other pulse points as well as your temples you should get faster relief. -

I recently purchased a Badger headache balm (similar ingredients to migrastick). I only recently discovered Badger balms and think they are fabulous. They have so many different balms for different purposes. I want to get a sleep balm and a wrinkle crinkle balm now 🙂

I have read that the most common cause of headaches (not migraines) is from the over-use of painkillers.. If possible you should put off taking painkillers as the predispose you to future headaches. Also you should watch your blood sugar levels as drops can cause headaches and fatigue too..

Loretta you guessed right – it`s 15mg of codeine – so best thing you can get without a prescription! It really was a life saver finding that one out! I need to take 2 at a time – so I guess that makes up one panadeine forte! It`s great that they help knock you out too – helps the recovery.
And I was the same – I`d never seen them or heard of them, and chemists are quite wary at giving them out – they obviously don`t want to advertise something with so much codeine in it – but I def need it unfortunately! -

Eles – I`m interested that you had good results from taking those vitamins. I used to take all those and more but still suffered from the migraines. Having said that, I`ll give anything a go more than once, as things do change.
P75 – I`ve been meaning to try that migrastick, I`ve used other similar preparations, but they aren`t terribly effective. I will have to try using the essential oils as you recommended, as I feel that would be more effective.
Elmo – I`ve not seen Panadeine 15, I`m guessing it contains 15mg of codeine? I find with Nurofen Plus (which as 12.8mg of Codeine) I need to take two doses (not at the same time) in order to get relief. The first dose takes the edge off, and the second mostly gets rid of the pain. The best thing I`ve used is Panadeine Forte, but it has 30mg of Codeine and therefore is prescription only.
