hairdyeing!

i’ve had my hair coloured heaps for about 4 years until last year when i decided to give it a break. it’s been a year since i’ve dyed it or used any heated styling tools. now i’m going to dye it using an at home hair dye… just wondering what i can do to keep it from getting too damaged afterwards?
thanks

I have been coloring my hair at home for the last few months as I have a 4mth old baby and the other day I used loreal excell 10 in brown and i left it on for 13mins ( not 10mins) and it is nearly a black color……..arrrghhhh…….I wanted a chocolatey brown color as i already had brown with highlights, so I guess I will need to wait till this color fades out to try again. (my hair naturally is a light brown color but need to hide the few whites i saw!!!)

take it from someone who dyed their hair a different colour every week – don`t use the supermarket dyes!

The best way to get the results you desire is to go into a Petra Hair Care/ Hairhouse Warehouse or Price Attack and get the colour in a tube and the activator in a bottle.

The reason getting the solutions in this manner is better is because the store bought kit`s almost always have a higher peroxide volume than what is actually required!

Without seeing your hair, I would say you will probably need to mix the colour with what`s referred to as 20 Vol peroxide. The 20 Vol will lift the colour of your hair and allow the new colour to be deposited without damaging your hair to the endth degree.

The way to use these mixtures is a ratio of 1:1 meaning if you use a 60gm tube of colour you will use 60ml of peroxide solution.

If you go into hair house warehouse or one of the other stores mentioned they will have colour charts and be able to help you choose a colour that is suitable for you 🙂

Beauty Muskin, if you`re any good at photoshop take a photo of yourself and change your hair colour. Doesn`t have to be perfect. Or head over to Hairhouse Warehouse or Price Attack, they both have a really good range of wigs, and try on the wigs closest to the colour you`re after. It doesn`t really matter what style the wig is, because you`re only looking to see if the colour matches up with your skin tone.

Get a really good treatment product for your hair, and try to limit the use of heat styling.
