Good make up brushes – recommend me some!

I’m wanting to upgrade my make up brushes and tools and am wondering what other ladies here find are the necessities in making up a good kit and what brands they would recommend.

There’s an article on here which was really helpful but it would also help to find out everyone’s personal preferences!

Hi – My favourite makeup brushes would have to be MAC I have had mine for close to 8 years. I recently bought some from American and they were very good value and great quality.

I`ve found the Body Shop brushes to be among the nicest I`ve felt for a great price – JMO 🙂

I got a couple of Estee Lauder brushes for Xmas last year – and was initially very happy with them – but them the hairs started to break off….after just a few months. I of course went to the E.A counter, but all they had to say was that I hadnt looked after them properly, so there was nothing they could do for me. So while I think that E.A eye shadows are some of the best, I certainly wouldnt recommend their brushes!

I love my Clinique brushes, I`ve found them to be good quality and I also have a kabuki brush by I.D. Bare Minerals, which is so lovely and soft. I`ve seen the Artiste ones but not bought one yet but they seemed very reasonably priced.

MAC brushes are quite good but I also have a set of Proof brushes and these are really good for the price. They are hard to get hold of though. I do mix and match a bit as some brands have better brushes than others depending on the purpose they are used for. It is a bit of trial and error really. Synthetics are good for foundation, concealer and cream shadows as they clean easily. For most other products eg. powder shadows and blush, natural hair is the way to go. Hope this is helpful. 🙂

There is another thread I thought you might be interested in looking at, so I bumped it up to the top.

I have several different brands and they are all good brushes, but my favourite ones are MAC I have had mine for over 10 years and they get used daily and still look really good. My other preference is my two Youngblood foundation brushes (I can`t live without them). Other brands that I have are Mirenesse, Manicare Artiste and Eco brushes and I would recommend any of these.

I agree with the Napolean brushes, I`ve had my foundation one for almost 3 years now & maybe haven`t taken the best care of it…….. & it`s still fantastic, I don`t think it has ever shed any hair. I`ve also got the the big powder brush from Natio which I like too & eyeshadow brush from Prestige which I love.
