gift ideas for new mums

Hi guys – i have noticed that a lot of BH gals are mums & just wanted some advice on what you would have appreciated as a gift when you had your babies.

when my sister had her baby i bought clothes for the baby but also cleaned her house & cooked for her for about 3 weeks after to help her out.

this was ok for mu sis – but i think that might be a bit extreme for a friend who i get along with but in not like a BFF or anything.

i was thinkin that she might appreicate something for herself & not the baby as i expext she’s going to get lots of baby stuff.

What would you have loved to treat yourself with after you had your babies?

I don’t have baby experience but I can imagine how tired mummies must be ESP in the initial phase. Perhaps a mummy pack from eg Dish’d have would be good, the ready cooked meals are delish!!

Woombies Eco Toddler Donut. One of the most useful purchases I have ever made, this mat is so handy to have around. I used to take it with me when visiting family and friends and my daughter would happily fall asleep on it, no matter where we were.

Also comes in Baby size but I used my toddler one from 6 months.

    Hi beauties,

Bumping this thread again as I’ve got a baby shower to attend so I’d love to hear your thoughts on some great gift ideas for mum or baby (aside from the usual toys and onesies!)

What a great idea, usually everyone gets baby things for soon to be mummy’s.
I was gifted Peter Alexander PJ’s and The Body Shop Strawberry Gift Box, everything else was for bubs.

A favourite place for me when a friend has a baby, is a site I found on facebook,. The work from bome mum, has a selection of soft toys, she calls them cubbies, and you can get the baby’s name, weight, height, time of birth ,or whatever you choose embrodered on. They are just lovely. Not sure if I’m allowedto put her name here, but I’ll try to come back and check (I’m hopeless at finding a particular thread) and if you are interested I’ll try to get the info. to you. I don’t know the person, but between my daughter and I we’ve bought a few items.

    Hey beauties!

Just reviving this thread as Im wanting to put together a gift basket for a family friend who is a new mum to be!

I don’t really want to go down the route of giving her baby clothes and toys as I assume she will have already been given lots of those items!

Would love to hear suggestions of products for the baby that others may not have gifted you but you found really helpful/essential (I once heard one of my teachers really appreciated a bath thermometer for the baby!) so something you don’t necessarily think of as a gift idea.

I’ve read the great suggestions above to gift the mum so if you have any recommendations on what to get her too, I’d love to hear it!

    Thanks!

I was gifted a portable/foldable change mat and we use it everytime we go out. It’s extremely handy when you’re at a park, at a friend’s house or if you don’t want to lay your bub down on those public parents room change tables lol.

    Hi T&T,
One thing I found really good (which surprised me!) was a specific baby towel with the little hood (for the head) also some baby face washers.
I never thought either of those things where essential but I’m so glad I got them.
The face washers where very soft and both my boys have loved being wrapped in the towel after their baths.

Thank you so much PrettyPrincess! That’s exactly the type of useful/helpful gifts I wanted to give her. I’ll have a look around to see if I can find them in store, I particularly love the sound of the baby towel with a hood!
